As I mentioned, I know the photographer well - over 20 years - and he told me about the event when it happened. Apparently there were other witnesses and bug, bird or bee it was not. My first thought was "drone." I can ask for any additional details.

Knowing the photographer, I know this was not the case. Also, it was taken right around New Year's day and not exactly insect season in Japan. Too cold.
