I think these sorts of maps are very useful,
we tend to think of things without our own framework of reference, so if a craft of X description is seen on the east coast one minute and an identical craft is seen on the west coast 2 minutes later, most peoples first thought is there are two of them. But it may be that its one very fast craft
 
Very refreshing to see a mainstream outlet like Slate give a little space, no pun intended, to the UFO phenomenon. I hope it's the shape of things to come. Peter Davenport's map shows a pronounced density of UFO reports from Chris O'Brien's neck of the woods. Nice to see that verification. I think these maps will yield some great data and it reminds me of the early and very comprehensive work of data expert Jacques Vallee.
 
From what I've read on the web Larry Hatch had some serious health problems and his database and website were abandoned. I've been trying to find a way to obtain that database, but without success. Does any of you know where I can obtain it?
