Now that is a very sweet little lizard! :)

I understand it is quite difficult to tell male from female when they are young, but for some reason I think it is a female.

Have you named him or her yet? if not I would like to suggest "Waminda", as I understand it means "friend" in Indigenous Australian (not sure exactly which "dialect" or language).
It also starts with "W" so I like the sound of "waminda the water dragon". or how about "Wallace" if you think its a boy?

Apparently they like watermelon and seedless grapes. (according to a pet care website).

It is so nice to see a happy little beast, especially as so much wildlife must have been killed during the terrible fires that were near by.

Once again I doff my cap to you, the generosity and disregard of personal risk you invested in fighting the fires, is inspiring to say the least.

Although I do not wish to seem "woo woo" I genuinely believe that: that small lizard, is in some way saying thank you (by way of its presence), on behalf of all the creatures you helped to save. (a good omen in other words).

Best wishes.

Thanks Harry, yeah its really settled in have seen it everyday for the last few days now.
I think its turned up at this time because of our water feature, its been so dry these last few months, i doubt there are any natural water sources nearby.
Weve had no mosquitos lately either, another indicator of this.

I expect that once we get some rain it will head off to a natural water source.
