I'm going to say that the bare minimum of equipment might be a Geiger Counter. Depending on the person's method of transversing time, there might be a crap ton of radiation emanating from his body.
You might also consider an IR Thermometer. Upon entry into our time, it might cause an extreme low in temperature or an extreme high in temperature. For instance, remember Terminator? There was a giant ball of electricity that appeared before they entered the past. It was so super hot that it melted/disintegrated everything around that ball. Even if you don't see an anomaly when a visitor from the future arrives in our time, temperature might be an indicator that there was some sort of wormhole and due to a change in state to the atmosphere around the wormhole, there would be expansion or collapse. Rapid expansion and collapse of space could trigger expansion and collapse in pressure, which in turn changes the temperature.
You might also consider the infrared spectrum altogether as being an indicator of an event. Before and after the mesh in time/space there may be an increase (or even decrease) iin infrared radiation emanating from the location where a wormhole is about to appear or where it once appeared.
However, if you're not there for the event itself, I'm not entirely sure how you would be able to tell a futuristic human from a historic human. Depending on the amount of time between the future and the past, I guess there could possibly be minor evolutionary differences between current and future humans. The DNA could look more "perfect" than normal/average DNA, or it could even look worse (like it was degrading) depending on your storyline (as if someone needed to go to the past to save the future).
If you want to talk about experimental technology, you could possibly involve Kirlian Photography. Kirlian Photography is said to take a picture of the bio-electric energy that's being emitted from our bodies. There's also a bunch of science that shows that Kirlian Photography can pinpoint certain diseases in the body based on where there may be a break in our body's bio-electric field. Maybe people from the future have far wider bio-electric fields than we do. Showing that their bodies are far more active than our own on an atomic/molecular level.
There could also be a massive language barrier and a language no one's ever heard spoken before. The evolution of language can happen slowly or even quickly. Changes in language could be linked to advancements in technology. With more communication worldwide, with new technological advances in medicine and physics and biology, our languages can evolve based on newly created scientific words and based on who we're able to communicate with from around the world. Also, if you're talking about the future, who knows if man actually gained contact with alien life? Maybe we became so advanced that we were able to live in peace (or even at war) with an alien species, and learn some of their language along the way.
I think that's all I have for right now. Hopefully that gives you some ideas though.
