Dear vesvehighfolk, I have two suggestions, the first is that as she was used as "troop ship" in wwii and was refitted for war in 1940 there would have been "hospital" areas, it has probably long since been refitted, but you might be able to find out roughly where they were.

the second suggestion I have is a bit more complicated, here goes:
get as low in the ship as you can, close your eyes and imagine that you are in the middle of the Atlantic ocean with 16,000 sixteen thousand other people on board, the upper decks of the ship are completely dark, in case you are spotted by enemy aeroplanes, yet you know that the very sound of your huge engines is beckoning U-boats (wolf packs) to your location, and that they could sink you without warning, at anytime, and if you are sunk there is slim to no chance of rescue as the rest of your convoy will have to save them selves, there are not enough life boats and a man cannot usually survive more than thirty minutes in the freezing water. Hitler has offered an iron cross and huge amount of money as a bounty for your sinking, and you are one of the biggest targets in the seven seas (in size and value)
Then just imagine that you still have 1,500 miles to go, and when you get to where you are going, you will have to go back again, and again.

All the best from the other side of the "pond" Harry

I found the ship is realy restrictive. the pool is locked unless a tour is ongoing. you cant accsess the lower potion of the ship with out a tour. the most haunted room on the ship is not being rented out and from what I can tell solo roaming is frowned upon...

Bob, Rikki, have a nice time in Cali, I never visited the ship but I think you should post some pics in the 'from your area' thread when you get back.

There is something creepy about being on a ship in the middle of the ocean when the engines are stopped, it really makes you think of the Marie Celeste or the Ancient Mariner type stuff.

Thanks goggs! Our trip includes disny land and other stops. The queen mary is the only stop that is paranormal related. The gal who took our reservation said. They tolerate ghost hunters but they had issues with damage by ghost hunters.

I went to Disneyland (and don't let this put you off) but for some reason the end-of-day fireworks were not on, and the magic mountain ride broke while we were on it and we had to get off and walk round the rest of it. Nuff said.
Go to Six Flags! That's a treat....

I write this from the deck of the QM! First impresions...the ship is OLD! The ships interiors have the old house smell to it! The decor is enchanting. It is easy to think the ship is haunted. We signed up for the tour. It is discouraged to wander alone but I can do so..they told me to not let the kids go into the pool area alone because it is empty and they coule be injured.more as I can on the run!

Keep us posted guys, esp if you see a ghost!

The ship is incredable! We saw the diana exibit. And took the ghost tour. Th pool room is very errie.the only odd thing is as I wandered in the pool room I could hear water spashing.(no water in the pool) but icould have been from many sources..next stop six flags and the winchester house!

Enjoy Six Flags and the Winchester House, vesvehighfolk you and your family. I've heard the winchester house is really a haunted place, please share your impressions. I remember as a kid seeing an episode of "That's Incredible" on it and it scared me to death.

Once upon a time there lived a princess. .the story had no happy ending. I saw no ghost except this one..

The QM was a wonderfull ship I could spend months wandering her deserted halls. the pool had a strange feeling to it. Like some one was sad. the whole ship..dispite the care it is preserved felt well dead. it was a place for ghost. But alas we saw none. I am happy we spent a night aboard her. but to honest it was a place I care not to return to. the pool and lower decks are filled with sadness. something is there. a left over from her glory days. I lit a candle when I went into the 1st class pool and reached out. hoping the candle would guide what ever was there to the real light. I do not believe It did what ever is there is stuck for as long as the QM exist it can't pass on. again I wish to say I saw and heard nothing. but what I felt there was real.
