As this has probably been posted before I'll keep it short. How about removing the adverts before releasing the podcast of the show? It states on this forum that you don't receive any money from the ad's so it won't matter if they are removed. I'm sure members of the forum would happily help with some audio editing as I would, and at the very least, run the episodes through some sort of compression so that the ad's don't blow the speakers when they start as they are often at a much higher volume than the show. Sorry, it turned out longer than I expected it to.

Audio editing is trivial, but it's not the solution.

The network sells the ads with the expectation that podcast versions of their shows will include them. So the answer, in short, is that we can't. That's the network's decision. I did propose the option of offering an ad-free premium version of the show, but they punted.

So that's where we stand unless the network comes to a different decision. Understand, though, that the traditional radio networks that do offer ad-free downloadable versions of shows will always charge for them. I investigated several options. On commercial networks and radio stations, ads are the price for free radio.

or you can simply move the slider past the ad and continue listening within a couple seconds.

Thanks Gene, It's still a great show, Just being from the UK means I couldn't take advantage of most of the ad's even if I wanted to.

Thanks for all the shows so far and may they continue for some time yet.

Don't forget that the first minute of 9 of those ad breaks consists of our own ads; so we hope you'll listen to those announcements at least. That's our main source of revenue from the show, although we really need to get more advertisers. The best way to help The Paracast is to help us find a first-rate sales/marketing person who can take over the hard chores of marketing my shows.

I can see both sides. It is indeed the cost of the free show - carrying adverts. I usually listen when I go to bed and sometimes it's a pain in the ass either waiting for ads to finish while a good show is on the go, or me being in a semi-drifting state and getting up every now and then to FF past the ads.
When I put the shows on my mp3 player for Paracast on the move, I often think of basically editing the show myself to take out the ads but really the effort of doing that is equal to the effort of just FF'ing past the ads.
Heads I win, tails you lose!

It is a free to listen show and I hope that does not change. So if the price is ads then so be it.

id pay a couple of bucks, easy, for an adfree download. its not so much the ads themselves tho becouse i can skip thru them, but more that it constantly breaks the flow of the conversation. I see the dilemma tho.

Gene has got to pay for the show some way :-)

I don't really mind them and I see it as a small price to pay for the show remaining free for us.

Actually, the ads don't really bother me that much. Sometimes they are even informative to some extent. Half the time I just let them play while I go fix myself a nice cool e-foods direct refreshment. And when I use One World Whey I can listen to several episodes in a row without feeling the least bit fatigued.
yeah me too. i've water filtered my urine for the past three years (thanks berkey guy) plus am eating stuff off the streets fo' free, ive secreted my weapon in a concealed holster that has zero pinching and some dude keeps sending me silver dollars!WTF?!!
