Alien Engineering on History Channel

Free episodes:

God, this was the worst example of a ratings-grab by any network I've ever seen.

I had a lot of hope for this show, but it was a turkey.

Sorry, I just personally didn't like it.

Actually, that series of shows is pretty old. Kal Korff is in a few of those. Take it for what it is.

While I don't think it has anything in particular to say about the UFO phenomenon, it was interesting as an overview of some of the options for us getting nifty toys.
In that vein this development is interesting, because it looks like we just got a lot closer to being able to produce useful quantities of antimatter (although of course that's just the start - we've had fusion for instance since well before I was born but still haven't worked out how to do anything more useful with it than make really big explosions. Still, this is a start).
Oh, and here's a thought: the oft-repeated notion that aliens would be concerned about or even interested in us developing nuclear energy or has always struck me as rather naive - it seems like "I bet they're impressed and terrified by my new spear" - and based on our quaint view of nuclear energy as the ultimate in technological power and destructive potential.
Antimatter (or Zero-point energy if it can be tapped, or something else we haven't even dreamed of yet) could be something different if it has the potential to enable to get out there and really make a nuisance of ourselves (or if necessary, fight back). So perhaps we should pay more attention to those bodies and individuals who are researching these things, and if bad things happen to them consider the possibility that it may not be the usual suspects who are responsible (although they might be as unwitting proxies).
