Paranormal Novice
hi, new to the form. i'm abit reluctant to talk, (or this case type) about this period of my life.
here goes.

in 2005 me and my wife got our first apt just outside of our home town of portadown (n. ireland), it was a old victoran house that was split up into 3 dwelling. we loved it, high celings and large windows. every thing was fine, good neighbours above and below us.
in november of that year things started to change. it started when we were both in the living room watching a dvd, we both heard a noise in the spare room like someone rumaging around in the closet, we went in and nothing, the noise stopped. later that night as were getting into bed we heared it again but this time there was a bang as well, like a door being pushed shut. i'm not afraid to say at this point i started to get scared. before i had a chance to put my boxers on we heard it again. i told my wife to be quiet and that i think someone has broken in, at that point our cat fliped out and literally tryed to crawl up the wall. my wife calmed the cat down and the noise happened again but after bang we could hear footsteps moving from the spare room to the bathroom. the cat fliped out againg and got under the bed. at this point my wife started to hide behind me, i decided that i wasnt going to let anyone scare my wife or me in our own house so went to confront the intruder, (thinking its just some stupid kid). my wife wasnt so keen on his idea and walk to the bedroom door trying to change my mind.

I opened the door and from that moment saw what was making the noise, there was a dark shadow standing in the doorway directly oposite me about 8ft away. i almost droped one at that point and just stood there looking at this thing, it was a perfect human outline and it just stood there looking at me. my wife peeked out from behind me and didnt move. it was terrifing. the thing looked at the window and then turned around and walked through the living room and into the kitchen. i closed the door and gathered up our close as i phoned for a lift to get the hell out of there.

by the time my dad turned up every light was on in the house the cat was in the carry box and we were truly and utterly spoked. my dad couldnt understand what we were saying, he kept saying u mean a person. when he finally got what i was saying he said that it was probaly in our heads and we need a cup of tea and a good night sleep,(typical english man). in retrospect he says that he is very sorry for that. he left and we had to try and get some sleep. 3 days and only sleeping in shifts we decided that its happened and we will have to try and forget about it.

nothing happend for a week apart from the cat living under our bed.

the next thing that happend on the following monday. i came home from work for lunch to find cat fur all over the living room and the cat under the sofa growling, the bottom of the kitchen door was scrathed up prity bad. i had lunch, cleaned up and went to the bathroom. when i walked into the living room the tv switched on and the volume was at max. i was shitting it again looking 360 around me running to turn the tv off, it wouldnt turn off. what happened next is like a bad youtube video, the dvd turned on and the exorcist was in it, i cant tell you strongly enougth that this was not but in the dvd by me, my wife or our friends (we hadnt told them about it). it was my dvd but it was in the dvd draw under the tv and we haddent watched it since we first saw it as we both thought it was not good and dated, but at that the them tune scared me to death. i eventually got it turned of half way through the them song and quickly left the house.

i phoned my wife and told her what happend. we stareted looking at new houses that night.

the last thing that happened was on that thursday. we had just come back from looking at a new house and the electric meter was beeping. my wife went to the shop across the road, and the noise in the spare room started again. to this point in my life i have never been as scared as i was at that day. the noise got louder and qiute angry, really like thrashing in the draws and the door of the room slamed, i was trying to grab the cat and get out of the house when the painting on the living room wall hit the floor. the cat ran to front door quicker than i could.

left that house only going back with about 10 or 12 people to quickly pack up our stuff.

what has got me thinking about this again is that me and my wife keep noticing that our tv turns on and off during the night in our new house, i dont think its anyway related but still.

has anything like this happend to anyone else. i havent really talked about it to anyone else except family

thanks

I've never had anything remotely like that occur to me, so I can't really understand your viewpoint. From an outsider's perspective, your experiences sound creepy as hell. I think I would have moved out a bit more quickly than you did, however.

Thank you for sharing your story, it gave me a chill up my spine.

Hi There Steele42,

You had said: Quote:
  • [*=1]"our cat fliped out and literally tryed to crawl up the wall."[*=1]"the cat fliped out againg and got under the bed."[*=1]"nothing happend for a week apart from the cat living under our bed."[*=1]"I came home from work for lunch to find cat fur all over the living room"[*=1]"the cat under the sofa growling, the bottom of the kitchen door was scrathed up prity bad."[*=1]"I was trying to grab the cat and get out of the house"[*=1]"the cat ran to front door quicker than i could."
From the above I would say you have cat problems. Then there is the issue of that other pesky critter ... the shadow being ...
  • [*=1]"I opened the door and from that moment saw what was making the noise, there was a dark shadow standing in the doorway directly oposite me about 8ft away ... it was a perfect human outline and it just stood there looking at me ... the thing looked at the window and then turned around and walked through the living room and into the kitchen.

This second part sounds almost as bad as the cat problem, but did it actually damage any furniture, scratch up any doors or spread shadow person hair all over the place? Perhaps if you'd given it a name, maybe like "Larry" and got rid of the cat, you'd have traded for the lesser of two evils ... maybe saved on cat food and litter too.

OK now is when I ask for forgiveness on the above and say I'm sorry but I just couldn't resist making fun of the cat. Seriously, I've seen shadow people and an apparition and experienced moving furniture and other weird stuff, so your story really doesn't sound crazy, and to be perfectly honest, for me the apparition was the scariest thing I've ever experienced. Have you experienced anything else since then? Did you ever try to seek out an explanation? Have you ever had a UFO experience?

hi, thanks for ur replys.

i see what u mean about the cat, but i prefer the cat on my lap. in fact the things that went on with my cat has changed how my family lives, we now have 2 cats and 2 dogs, they are kind of our ews.
the only thing that ive noticed since then is that our tv turns itself on and off quite alot, this may be an electrical problem but it still gives me an unsettled feeling.

what prompted me to post this was that in july my brother in law, who is a fireman, phoned us to tell us that the house had burned down. He is the first to state to us that he is no expert in arsen, but he didnt see any excellerents or any other reason for the fire. the reason for the fire is still not knowen.

i cant help but shake the feeling that this is going to start again, and believe me im not looking forward to it. i dont know if these things are confined to the place or to certain people.

Hey steel ...

We don't really know for sure what shadow people or apparitions really are, but I no longer buy into the afterlife ghost spirit world explanation ( although I suppose it too is technically possible ). One thing that is certain is that they are connected with areas of higher strangeness ( other paranormal phenomena ) often including UFO sightings. This has led me to theorize that these phenomena are some sort of manifestation by an alien intelligence. Human technology also has the means to simulate such phenomena ( e.g. The Disney Haunted House ). If there are mental or medication issues, people can also sponataneously hallucinate these things ... but such are very rare. If you are all sane, unimpaired people who are telling the truth, and the phenomena continue to manifest, then you need to consider the possibility that you are part of some sort of study by someone or something, in which case your best defense is to start studying it back. As soon as that starts to happen it seems they go away. The mediums always attribute this to "setting the soul free", but I think it's more likely they ( whatever is behind the phenomena ) realize you are onto them and might learn more than they want you to know, so they pack up and move. Think logically and get your fear under control. You'll probably be just fine. The dogs are probably a good idea too. They tend to be more protective of their owners than cats. If they start to bark a lot or growl for no apparent reason ... then you might have uninvited guests.

Very interesting theory ufology. I quite like it. As I read steel42's post I started comparing it to my own; with 'human-shaped' entities (though not dark) and odd noises (although outside). I did get the feeling, in my story, of being observed by those entities. Starting to sound like some big Matrix-study group. I hope, however, that you are wrong on what I infer to be your theory on the realities of the afterlife -- that there is none -- my hope is greater than my experiences/faith in that regard right now.

With regard to what Jerry Brett and ufology have stated, I have had a lingering suspicion that certain apparitions see us as apparitions in their own world...that possibly what we see is a rift in time-space. Maybe even a storage of electrochemical brain waves of some sort that has imprinted and stored information that only certain "sensitive" people can see, or that we can only see when our brainwaves match those patterns.

I say this having never seen, in my conscious mind, an apparition of any sort. So take that for what it's worth.

Steel42, did you talk to your neighbors were they having experiences also?

If your TV is still turning itself on and off, that's not an electrical problem
