"They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
We will remember them."

I will be at dawn parade as always and in these times of turmoil it pays to remember the price paid by or forefathers.
I go not to glorify war but to remember the young men who went to fight and die for the mistakes of nations leaders.

Posted this early because I am going to be run off my feet all day tomorrow.

I too shall put on a suit and tie and be at my local dawn parade
It would be easy to just give it a miss, the local organisers like to equate the sacrifice of these men with the sacrifice of some fictional dude they call jesus.
That irks me no end
But i will attend as per usual, the delusions of the few dont detract from the very real sacrifice of so many
As someone with an acute sense of empathy, to extend myself into this matter is can be debilitating in its scope of wanton waste

So i too shall remember them, as i do at the going down of the sun everyday

I hate war and all it stands for, and imo these poor guys got manipulated into a tragic waste of human life

But they did it in good faith on the futures behalf. That has to count for something

So i can recognise the madness, and salute the sacrifice

<S>

May we never need such sacrifice again

I am both ashamed and proud of my species on this day

For some reason this old quote comes to mind on Australian and kiwi soldiers

"If I had to take hell, I would use the Australians to take it and the New Zealanders to hold it."

Erwin Rommel

Just as an aside my Great Grandfather was in the Australian Army, born and raised in Perth. He was at Gallipoli.
My Grand Father was in NZ army core (an engineer I believe) since the family moved to NZ between the war years.
Both nations are close for this and of course many other reason and regardless of the small political things between us from time to time when push came(s) to shove we were and always have been brothers I guess.
