Actually, the reason I bought these devices was to get away from Microsoft Office.

Office is heavy, and a PITB to maintain. I'm only allowing a few people keep it, people who really need it, (which in reality is very few people).

I'm betting that Google Docs and iCloud will do all the office tasks 95% of my people need to do. My current job rides on this wager. Wish me luck. :)

That, and Word is the second most evil application ever. It has prevented more clear written communication then all other apps put together.

We all know what the most evil application is. The Mind Killer that is Powerpoint.

My main problem with Chromebooks is that they can't run the heavy duty stuff we need to do engineering, like Matlab/Simulink or the serious 3D CAD tools.
 
That is true, but when you throw your lot in with evil, bad things tend to happen to you.

Those Nokia employees will be better off in the long run. It just doesn't seem like it right now.
