I just bought 90 iPads and 40 Chromebooks for my company.
I suspect the Chromebooks will be a lot easier to manage.

Offhand I can't think of anything mission critical that a Chromebook won't do that an iPad will.
Start by running a native version of Microsoft Office.

Actually, the reason I bought these devices was to get away from Microsoft Office.
Office is heavy, and a PITB to maintain. I'm only allowing a few people keep it, people who really need it, (which in reality is very few people).
I'm betting that Google Docs and iCloud will do all the office tasks 95% of my people need to do. My current job rides on this wager. Wish me luck.

That, and Word is the second most evil application ever. It has prevented more clear written communication then all other apps put together.
We all know what the most evil application is. The Mind Killer that is Powerpoint.
My main problem with Chromebooks is that they can't run the heavy duty stuff we need to do engineering, like Matlab/Simulink or the serious 3D CAD tools.
Well, you can of course use iWork if Word isn't your cup of tea.
Haven't they already taken over from Microsoft?

That is true, but when you throw your lot in with evil, bad things tend to happen to you.
