Yes it was a great show. I was actually very interested to hear the views about podcasts and advertising. I'll admit, having come from England where there are far fewer commercials, it was a bit of a shock listening to the latest paracast shows, but i am used to it already. I do think however that in the future when the radio networks have a better understanding of the business models behind these podcasts, there will be more of more of them offering listeners across the world the ability to download their shows but at a paid cost.

Depending on how they bill for advertising (i.e. whether foreign downloads count when negotiatiing with prospective commercial businesses), the only way stations like GCN and CyberstationUSA generate revenue at the moment is via the US markets.... the US listeners (as all the commercials are for US products). Meanwhile people from all over the world are listening, many of whom come from countries with far less commercials who would be happy to pay a small fee to listen to the show, and the the stations probably technically don't generate a single bit of revenue.
I predict in the future many of these stations will follow suit with the business model that coast to coast already use and offer the same shows for download, minus the commercials.

Hell, i pay $75* per year to listen to Don's show..... and Don doesnt even see a single penny of it! The $75 goes to the runners of the shitty iphone app that allows me to listen to it, which is piss easy to make and the same technology is dished out by companies like GCN for free. A business model where listeners pay that much money to listen to the station, and the station (i'm assuming) doesnt see a penny of it doesnt make sense to me.
I'd much rather give the cash to Don for all his hard work, so he can put it towards that Porsche he's been lusting after

*its either $75 or $140 for a years subscription, i cant remember now as it was 6 months ago and in my head i was converting it to £'s....

Great Show Don, Greg, Paul , Richard and Walter,
Richards story about the ufos sightings was very intresting and maybe if possible Don a show with Paul on the ShagHarbour incident :)

Cheers,
BF

Not my area of expertise. A better guest would be either Don Ledger or Chris Styles, who literally wrote the book. Chris and researcher Graham Simms have a new book coming out about Shag, with what Graham tells me is new information - they would both make good guests.

Will have to check this out now that mp3 is fixed.

Also the Dr Barry Taff episode from a Wednesday a couple weeks back is playing the same file as the Sesh Heri episode. Just a heads up.

A life's rich pageant episode, a classic... really.

paul - you're not alone on those something–for–nothing rants, as a media music composer; people who expect something for nothing get my goat/heckles too... rich - the topanga canyon reading/account bordered on the poetic...

cranky magic episode.

... it actually rankles that I don't pay a small fee to the likes of don, greg, jeff+jer and gene for their shows anyway so hoffmeister I'm with you, they're worth it.
