Hey Don I was just wondering maybe you can run your show on Blogtalkradio for the meantime until Cyberstation works out its technical problems. I was wondering if you had thought of that idea. Blogtalk has phone call in capabilities and chatroom capabilities etc it actually works out pretty good as a temporaray place for DMR to run until Cyberstation gets back up and running.??? The phone system at Blogtalk radio actually works pretty good.

I think that's a great idea Ryan. Dark Matters is all Dons baby so any station should be jumping at the chance to have THE Don Ecker and Richard Sarradet.

Actually, a really cheap approach would be to set up a site on at DreamHost, which is dirt cheap. They offer free QuickTime, RealAudio and http streaming, which makes it easy for Don to just record the show, and have it available online simply by uploading a file to the server, and posting a link on his site (and here of course).

Indeed before we got on the network, we simply ran QuickTime Streaming Server on our own server, and fed both the live and archive feeds on it, in addition to posting at iTunes.

Today, we use GCN's live and on-demand streaming feature. Where QuickTime is better (and you have to install QuickTime or iTunes on a PC to use it; it's standard on a Mac) is that you can always click on the show link and hear it from the start. The other methods are on-demand, meaning you hear the archives already in progress.

The question would be if dreamhost does provide unlimited traffic ? For a price , I bet, but well. Don has mostly hardcore fans , and they could help out....

Well, those unlimited traffic promises are almost always replete with terms and conditions, and thus unobtainable. But you get a lot for $8.95 a month at Dreamhost, and I mentioned them because of the free audio/video tools.

The host we are using right now specializes in dedicated packages, which are a whole lot more expensive, and free or most of those terms and conditions, other than the usual ones regarding spam and illegal activities.
