"I Wish I Knew"
Just listened to the Bud Hopkins episode from Aug. 17, 08 for the 2nd time and absolutely loved it up again. He is a most amazing guest and I would love to hear more of his experiences, of which there are many I'm sure. I would ask Gene or David to ask him for more details about his personal experiences when he was younger. Absolutely one of my favorite episodes ever. He seems to have a clear and relatively rational & logical look at the paranormal and the UFO experience. He is definitely someone I'd love to hear on the Paracast in the future.

His personal experiences? As in his ufo sightings?

If you haven't yet, check out Budd's first three books, they are some of my favorites. I can't recommend Sight Unseen, since I haven't read it.

He catches hell around here for leaving out certain details, but to me he's being conservative. He doesn't want to link certain things with the abduction phenomenon that might not be related. As an example he didn't go into much detail if any about Debbie Jordan's poltergeist like events.

If Bud really is picking and choosing what he reports then he shouldnt present a 'theory' or model for whats going on. Thats just disingenuous.

He waits until he's sure that certain things that might not be related are related before he includes them in his theories. He doesn't state they aren't related. There's a difference. He also has mentioned at least some of the things he is criticized for leaving out within his books and in interviews. He doesn't dwell on them though. He specializes like Ted Phillips. Ted doesn't comment much on abductions, is he being a stinky head by dealing mostly with trace cases? Things that Bud doesn't find himself qualified for, he often leaves for those who are, like parapsychologists in regards to poltergeists.

So do you think it's a coincidence that someone has poltergeist activity and is an abductee? What are the odds?

It may be a coincidence some times yes. Other times it may be people not seeing, or remember seeing a grey and then blaming ghosts. Sometimes it could be ghosts, but the person blames greys. Sometimes it may be psychic. Sometimes it may be something mundane and the person is merely spooked. Sometimes it may be hallucinations, or vivid dreams, or false memory. Sometimes the person is lying and full of shit. Sometimes the person may be a butt of a prank. Sometimes it may be greys with whoever's dead grandma playing with ecto plasma. Sometimes it might be a ghost of a grey.

I noticed Debbie joined your forum Jeremy. Maybe ask her about certain issues you and Jeff seem to have with Budd with her, if you haven't yet. She might be able to shed light on it better than me.

Some possible reasons for being an abductee and experiencing poltergeist activity:
1) Coincidence
2) Susceptibility to association with poltergeist phenomena (or subsconscious ability to cause them - e.g. involuntary PK etc.) is part of what makes the subject of interest to the "Others"
3) (Depending on sequence) The abduction experience triggers poltergeist phenomena, either directly by alien (or whatever) manipulation of the mind, indirectly by the emotional shock of the abduction experience, or also indirectly by the abductee having their understanding of reality altered to the extent that the impossible becomes manifest (or alternatively things which would be filtered out as impossible by the subconscious are noticed).
4) The poltergeist phenomena are generated by or through implants, and the abductees are being used as experimental subjects for the eventual creation of "prophets" with apparent paranormal abilities to be used as a control mechanism to manipulate the human population. In other words, they noticed the antics of "Raël", The One-Armed Man Who Shall Not Be Named and others and thought "Hey, we gotta get us one of those. Could be handy for getting the monkeys to do tricks".
5) The abduction phenomenon triggers delusions.
6) Both the abduction and the poltergeist phenomena are delusions
7) Both the abduction and the poltergeist phenomena are fabrications

That's seven after a quick think, I'm sure you can come up with more.

We've talked about it before. She loves Budd and is forever grateful for his help, which is understandable. But she knows she's had experiences that don't fit his mold.

Interestingly enough she says she had conscious recall of the vast majority of her experiences without hypnosis.

Yes, I think Budd even did the foreword of her and her sister's book iirc. I've read it a few times, very interesting. One of my favorite cases.

I must admit, I haven't read any of his books. I don't have time to read anything. I'm just a shlub who luckily stumbled upon the Paracast. If I could listen to his books, like I do with the Paracast, I'd have read them all by now.
I hope Bud is scheduled for another visit soon.

I only briefly looked, but all I found was a sight unseen dvd, no audio books.
