Paranormal Novice
i have never believed the stuff by david sereda concerning the large ice crystals or whatever they are going by the tether. there is no proof as he has said that they are intelligently controlled.

I believe astronauts have likely seen UFO's, but these NASA shuttle vids that keep popping up are garbage. I've never once seen any of the documentary hosts on those shows interview any optics or camera specialists, which would have been the first thing I'd attempt to rule out before moving on to UFO's as an explanation.

I could be wrong, I haven't seen them all. I find the pre-shuttle stuff much more convincing (though not dispositive).

I never saw ONE of the so called ufos in the vid behave in any extraordinary way. No right angle turns, change of speed etc.

That might be because, on the net, there are only certain low-res segments of the videos available, which perhaps don't provide conclusive evidence, one way or the other. UFO Magazine actually published three full-length VHS tapes at the time, it seems a shame that, to the best of my knowledge, two of them are not available anymore. One was called "The Raw Footage", and it contained 90 minutes of footage sans commentary.

Anyway, David Sereda used a lot of that footage for his own presentations, and I would rather not comment on their scientific profundity. However, he noticed a rather compelling sequence, where two spherical objects first seem to slowly establish a formation whilst hovering above Earth's atmosphere, and then take off simultaneously, flying exactly parallel at high velocities. The presentations I am referring to are here:

Part 2:

The sequence in question can be found in Part 1, at time code 1:36:51/1:38:15. Sereda labelled the sequence "STS-80 Parallel Hyper-Velocity Objects". I made some screen-shots, and put lines around the objects he was referring to. If you watch the video, it is immediately apparent what I mean. The screen-shots are here:

I would have to admit that I'm slightly under-welmed by the NASA vids.

What's your take on the 'phenomena 3'? Are we supposed to believe those 'streaks of light' caught between the two fields of a video image scan are ETIs? It seems very unlikely to me. I would suggest that it's more likely to be some sort external interference such as an exotic sub-atomic particle passing right through the shuttle cameras and leaving a trace on the light-sensitive element...but then again, I'm not a paid-up scientist, so what do I know...:)

I have no idea what the streaks of light are, they could be intelligently controlled, they could be subatomic particles... I haven't got a clue. Perhaps NASA could tell us?

However, am I really alone in seeing large numbers of objects moving around in space, in the videos? I don't get it. I even made screen-shots to illustrate how they rapidly move, and change direction, from one moment to the next..?

Sereda is truly ridiculous, what he doesn't understand about photography, physics, space debris and so many other things would fill a book or two.

The idea that a video camera doesn't focus like a film camera, is just laughable - focus issues lie in THE LENS, NOT the CCD and/or film back.

Most of the stuff in those videos is indeed space debris, or light artifacts from the camera lenses.

He also discredits Dr. Edgar Mitchell, who looked at the footage Sereda sent him and declared that he saw nothing unusual. Dr. Mitchell, who walked on the moon, is a proponent of UFOs, and when someone with his background and credentials tells you there's nothing weird in a NASA video, he should know, he's BEEN IN SPACE. Sereda has been SPACED OUT, but never outside of the Earth's atmosphere.

Sereda is a delusional moron, who now believes he has invented a zero-point energy device that will take him to Andromeda. We could only be so lucky. It's no wonder that the mainstream looks at people like him, or HornO, or Icke, or so many of these other wackos, and decides that there's nothing to see here, move along. Their fantasies and desire for attention have done deep damage to gaining ANY level of credibility for any kind of serious discussion of the subject.

I'll tell you all, it's hard to continue justifying being involved with this "field" at all, I'm extremely frustrated with the absolute nonsense that passes as knowledge. For those of us actually seeking any actual understanding of these mysteries, this is all quite sickening.

I am mystified as to why it seems so difficult to have a rational discussion about the NASA footage. This footage - and there are many hours of it, spread out over three VHS tapes - was published by the UK UFO Magazine. Now, some people, like Sereda, use this material for their own ends, and to further their own careers. Does that bother me? Not really, it's how they make a living I guess. Does anybody have to believe a single word they say? Of course not.

I was going to post again the link to the original "Smoking Gun" video, published in 2000 by UFO Magazine, but Google pulled the link.

Coming back to the Sereda presentations, at 1:36:51 into the first part (see link further up), there are two objects which first line up in formation, and then suddenly take off. That's what my eyes tell me, anyway. Now, perhaps there is something wrong with my eyes, and the eyes of a number of other people. So perhaps it would be possible for everyone to just look at the sequence, and tell us what they see? It takes about 20 seconds to do.

The one truly unexplainable, compelling piece of NASA footage I've seen is from the STS 37 mission, first video linked here.

If you're looking for rational anything in the UFO world, forget about it.

And I can't even consider the thought of sitting through anymore of Sereda's crap, the idea makes me ill.

I saw a show once that put forth the explanation that it was some remote camera device. They showed it and it reminded me of what Luke Skywalker trained with in New Hope. Whether or not this explanation washes or not, I'll leave up to you all.

Funny seeing the word rational and Sereda in the same paragraph.

Thanks for the link, David, I will have a good look at it when I get some time.

And, yes, I am looking for "rational anything in the UFO world". I thought that's what we have you guys for, from the Paracast? :)

About "Sereda's crap", I am sure you realise that I'm not trying to make you like it (fat chance, from the sound of it), I am genuinely intrigued as to what people see in that sequence. That's all. So, would it be asking too much if you simply load the video into your browser, in the background, and only look at this 20 sec. or so of footage? If you haven't seen it, you can't tell me that this cannot be what I think it might be.

I guess the fundamental question that needs to be asked is, does everybody here believe these videos contain genuine NASA footage? And if so, why is it that NASA won't show this kind of material on television, in the form of documentaries? I know that NASA likes to talk about ice crystals and space junk, but why don't they show it to us? What's the hold-up?
