Can Anyone Reccommend A Good Conference?

Hello,

I am a new poster to the forums. I have never attended a conference, but would like to go over the summer for the first time to one. Can anyone reccommend a good one in New England? I tried to google a few different things, but havn't really had much luck. Is there a conference in New England anywhere? Has anyone attended one? I don't want to wear a tin foil hat and carry a coat hanger, just listen to some good people who take things seriously. I would appreciate any advice. Thanks! Orange
 
I may be in the minority but I get a bunch more out of the MUFON conference than any other I have attended. This years lineup is looking pretty good. Unfortunately I cant go this year. My wife will be giving birth about 10 days before the conference.
 
Congrats! What an exciting time for your family!

You could still go to the conference, maybe your wife would give birth there! What a cool story for your child! (Just kidding, I would kill my husband if he even suggested such a thing.)

Do you know where this conference is and when it is happening? Any info would be great. Orange
 
From my very, very limited understanding of conferences today, I am afraid there really aren't any that are "top notch".

You will find a range of speakers or guests - some will talk dribble, whilst others are competent and knowledgeable speakers.

It is possible that you may find a conference that has a predominance of better topics and/or speakers, but I fear they are rare.
 
From listening to the show, that is the impression I am getting exactly. Still, it would be interesting to go to one and try to weed through things. I have heard Stanton Friedman a few times on the Paracast, and he seems like he would be an interesting fellow to hear. I am a newbie to the formal circuit and feel bombarded by all of the information that is out there. I listened to other shows, but really only listen to the Paracast now. The other shows I listened to got really weird, talking about big lizzards and the seceret government coverups of them. It was too much to take. The man Gene and David interviewed from marley woods seemed really interesting too. i think he is too busy to go on tour right now though. sigh.

I almost recommended MUFON, but I don't know about the OP's chapter. Could be wooville these days. I think his/her area was decent 10 or 15 yrs ago when I was a member.

Back when I cared to attend them, I considered who the speakers were. Go to ones with researchers you like. If you don't know who you like, visit youtube and watch what you can. Many conferences are uploaded there.

Stanton Friedman is great if you haven't heard him before. Many of his vids are at youtube and he discusses the same thing basically over the years.

Sadly, I tried to google our local mufon chapter and they have closed? I am close to some very large universities. I am about 2 hours from Dartmouth, and about a hour from Harvard. Maybe one of the schools will host a speaker? I'll have to look. Orange
