Hoaxed British nurse found dead

After the prank call and the ensuing furor over the invasion of Middleton’s privacy, the radio station apologized for the hoax, saying that the two DJs had never expected to get through to hospital staff because of their “terrible accents.”

I could roger that, I'm a yank and can easily discern the queen's voice from a 'strine

I'm horrified by this.
I wonder if it isnt a return prank.

The receptionist was the first to say "Maam" in what sounded like acceptance she was talking to her madge, she then transfered the call to the ward, i assume saying its the bloody queen, since the ward clerk also refered to the caller as Maam.

It doesnt seem like grounds to off yourself.

Having said that the press says she was married with two kids, but had moved into the nurses home 2 weeks prior.

Perhaps there is more to this than meets the eye.

I really hope the Palace comes out next week and says "gotcha" , if i were the disc jockeys i'd be feeling lower than a snakes belly right now

I would think so mike but at the same time having heard the call I believe the dj's when they said they were as surprised as anyone that it went as far as it did. To my ears their affected accents were more playful mocking than any attempt at realism. I would think the hospital would have had a procedure in place for handling any calls regarding the royal family such as shifting the calls to an official spokesperson also I would think royal protocol would dictate the queen's spokesperson would be handling any inquires (maybe I'm wrong) and any hospital personal would be aware of this. This case reminds me of the tyler clementi case this past spring. As unlikely as it sounds if there were any blame to be placed on this case, I would place it more at hospital administration.

And yes, I agree it should have been a tempest in a teapot when I first heard the news of her death I thought that maybe the nurse was dismissed from her job because of any embarrassment to the hospital and she decided "well that's it" she would have to have a very fragile ego, hell I didn't even know her name until her death, I don't think it was released...nor should it have been...had she not died, so it's not like she would have faced much public embarassment. I think her death made her more known, I believe you're right there's something fishy here.
