Chat Group Idea In The Works

Paranormal Adept
I have an idea and have had it in my thought sphere for sometime now.

There is a chat program called Paltalk which I have used for other use in the last 3 years which is very reliable, bot/spam free and easy to use.

My idea is to have a weekly chat at a scheduled time in which people on this forum could use audio chat and microphone chat.

It is a simple program that costs nothing.

I could admin the room, open it and run it. It costs nothing up to 75 chatters.

It does not have to be officially associated with the Paracast but the members could do it themselves. Of course Gene, Chris, and Don even could drop in and talk.

Any ideas?

I could open up a room on Paltak right this second as we speak. Takes 5 minutes.

Anyone with a Mic could use it.

Just needs chatters.

This is a nice idea. As we get closer to a premium package, maybe we could work on something to integrate this, but I'd have to see it further. Meantime, it sounds like a neat idea and I'd like to see the concept fleshed out.

Gene in regards to Premium

I have a few suggestions.

The way I have seen other shows do Premium in a way that works is they provide extra audio content for subscribers. This is how Dreamland does it. They have free 1 hour or 2 hour weekly podcasts but then go into overtime and interview a special guest for 1 hour or more and make that available only to the subscribers.

This way listeners who want a free download stay happy but those who have extra bucks to spend and want to hear the extras can pay for the extra interviews.

This is the format I have seen successful, and I have consumed probably hundreds of hours of podcasts. I am a junkie

The only problem with this is you would have to do longer interviews or book extra people and takes up more time for you.

I agree, a good idea w/ a potential to tighten up the Paracast community and allow for more involved reparte from all of us.

If you were not going to do this with Premium

Lets just say that

If a group was made that is not officially associated with the Paracast and would not even need to be called that.

Chris, Gene and Don would not need to work on anything.

For instance there is a chat room there right now called something else that talks about Paranormal

anyone can get Paltalk for free dowload and go chit chat.

but if Paracast wants to use it for Premium then building it into the forum would probably work better

We do want to offer an ad-free premium version of the show. Don't know if we have anything nailed down, but the network is now sensitive to the reasons why it's a good idea.

This is encouraging news, one shouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth but why the change of heart ? Do you know if other show programmers have been pushing for this as well ?

I'd be surprised if they weren't. It could be a lucrative money source, especially if thousands and thousands of listeners sign up. I wouldn't be living at the edge of poverty, and Chris deserves a lot more than a simple thank you for all he's done for us.
