China Snapping up Iraqi Oil Fields

Free episodes:

Yeah, that's right. We spent trillions of US dollars and thousands of American lives, not to mention the tens of thousands of maimed and brain damaged returning veterans, on a country that basically spit us in the face and instead of repaying us and our veterans with oil or the money from their oil revenues they decided to give the oil contracts to the Chinese. Isn't it wonderful? Why we're not sending the Marines to occupy the oil fields until all the money is repaid is beyond me.

Not that i have much of an understanding of the oil market but even if another company purchased the leases it wouldn't make of a difference from a market point of view. whether it be exxon, bp, total, or statoil it goes to the market and is theoretically up for grabs by anyone. i don't think the oil companies hold much of an allegence to their home flag, they just want to make money but i'm sure they'll wave the flag to get their respective governments involved in the bidding. at any rate i believe the cnpc is nationalized so they have the power and money of the chinese government behind them , and given china's breakneck...and reckless some would argue ...speed towards industrialization, it's a sure bet the oil from these wells are headed there as well

Wait what? You think they'd want to repay us for invading their country and blowing it to shit? When did they ask for our help? One could possibly argue that they owe us a debt for deposing Saddam, he was an asshole after all, but as for the rest of it, you must be joking. You don't honestly believe we went there out of the goodness of our hearts right? When you look at the whole picture, we helped Saddam come to power originally, so that was just correcting our own mistake. The state of that country can be directly attributed to our installing a nutcase as their president and then the years of sanctions we imposed on them because the guy we put in power turned out to be such an ass. We should've never gotten involved in the first place.

Regardless of what you believe our government did or did not do, whether this war was justified or not, the fact of the matter is that trillions of US tax payer dollars and thousands of American lives was spent on the so called Iraqi liberation. As far as I see it, that money needs to be repaid to the American tax payers and to the soldiers who risked and sacrificed their lives in that sandbox of a country. And no I'm not joking. As far as I see it, we should be the first in line to get any oil contracts and not the Chinese. Why the U.S administration is allowing this to happen is beyond me.
Either we get our money back or we go bankrupt, it's as simple as that.
