JOHN KELLY'S WASHINGTON

Close encounters with furious UFO believers

.......To be honest, I bet there is other life in the universe. It's just that I'm so busy with my Earthly pursuits, I don't have the time to get in the weeds on this whole UFO issue.
Aliens: If you have intergalactic spaceships, I assume you have e-mail.
I think that the above quote from Kelly's story sums up the attitude most people, including some from the media, have about UFOs. Of course those who post here may have varying attitudes towards the subject.

It certainly does not serve us that some take such a combative attitude toward skeptics, although I can understand their anger at the ridicule they get when they tell of their experiences. I did not tell anyone of my first experience for over 40 years, and when I finally did I was viciously attacked for it. The debunkers and the giggle factor have worked remarkably well in dividing us, and of course that was the purpose behind it. This is why confronting the government and non-believers works against us in bringing about serious inquiry into the observed and reported phenomena.

Rather we should invite them to look at the evidence, the photos, video, trace evidence, and recorded accounts, patiently seeking to interest them in doing so, rather than aggressively confronting and accusing them of being part of the cover-up, the cosmic Watergate, and the Truth Embargo. They are not going to respond well to that at all. I feel it would serve us far better to *invite* them to help solve the mystery than to battle with them over their skepticism.

Angry tirades and accusations will only serve to divide us on the matter and alienate those who have not had our experiences all the more. They will just dig in their heels and ramp up the ridicule. Patience with them is key, and so is self-control.

Invitations to
look at the evidence, the photos, video, trace evidence, and recorded accounts, patiently seeking to interest them in doing so,
have been going on for decades. And while i applaud the efforts of those involved such as Leslie Kean, Fox et al., I can't see the various media empires, governments of the world or even the general public giving as much as a rat's tossbag more time to this subject than they already do. People just don't care. They've got better things to do than to wonder if UFOs exist or not. The majority of people DO believe in the phenomenon but couldn't care less about delving into the semantics of where they come from etc.
As for UFO sightings or contacts, they are of such a personal nature, mostly, that you won't change the mind of a "sceptic/debunker" with your anecdotal evidence and the rest will just be happy to hear your quaint little story but quickly move on to whether Lindsay Lohan has gone to jail or not , knickerless or otherwise.
Unless you belly up to the front counter of your local news affiliate with "Largor, the friendly insectoid from the Andromedean sub nebula" the media, in general will be giggling their collective arses off till the mutilated cows come home.

It's funny. I live in Texas where there are a bunch of religious types. I have always thought it funny that most people here laugh at the UFO subject but would instantly and fervently preach to me the word of God.

And there a lot more people that believe in a god than there are that "believe" in UFOs. Neither has conclusive proof, but there's a lot more data pointing to the existence of unidentifiable (not just unidentified) flying objects than there is for a god.

In that same vein we have more evidence for secret military technological development that produces exotic looking and performing aircraft, mind-control, and other technologies and devices than we do for visitation by non-human beings from elsewhere. We even have evidence that governmental agencies manage the perception of UFOs as a matter of routine. What does this indicate?

Things are rearranging in my thinking about this whole business of late.
