Christmas frauds:

This is from the Christmas Eve Coast newsletter--it's so precious, I just had to share:

Christmas Eve Special:

In a special Christmas Eve edition of Coast to Coast AM*, George Noory spoke with four different guests for one hour each. First up was author and NDE expert Dannion Brinkley, whose new book Secrets of the Light is just out. He offered some of his predictions, stemming from visions he had in 1976: In the next year and a half, beings from another dimension will communicate via electronic sources such as digital TV about the world we think of as heaven. [Bah hah ha! Yeah, right! Tell me more!] Solar flares in 2010 will enhance this effect. We'll also see some amazing advances in medicine. [Oh, really? Gee, that was a tough guess! You sure you want to go out on a limb like that?]

Astronomer Hugh Ross talked about his new book Why the Universe Is the Way It Is, which integrates observations about the cosmos with biblical theology. The idea of a multiverse is not anti-Christian in principle, as God has created a different realm for the angels that is independent of this universe, he said. [Um, well, then, how do angels get into this universe to do God's bidding? I guess he'll get back to us on that...] Filmmaker and mystic ecologist David Sereda [Filmmaker, well that's a stretch--I don't even know what a "mystic ecologist" is... does that mean he walks around in a smoky daze looking for magic mushrooms?] talked about some of his personal spiritual experiences and "psychonaut" travels. [Yep! Well, they got the "psycho" part right.] He described receiving information from a woman who appeared at the foot of his bed about decoding Da Vinci's Mona Lisa painting, which related to Jesus. [Ah, ha ha, he just gets bettter and better.]

The evening's last guest, author Rosemary Ellen Guiley spoke about such topics as miracles, angels, and awakenings. [Well, thanks for the specificity!] Miracles may stem from our ability to occasionally tap into the cosmic order, she suggested, and part of our inner awakening is realizing we have the power to connect to a greater whole. [Uh huh. Greater whole, you say. Miracles may stem... occasionally... tap water. Okay, got it.]

Quote of the Night:

"I've seen spheres. Beautiful multi-colored beings spinning around my wife's head...My wife was communicating in her meditation, lying next to me, with a space being named Ashtar, and I didn't know this...I wake up and there's three little basketball-sized guys with turquoise and burnt orange, and all these lines, and they're glowing and moving like bees, really quick. And they spin around her head and they shoot through the ceiling and I collapse back into a sleep state and I go out of body after them and they're moving into these giant spaceships..."
--David Sereda

[Okay, stick a fork in Sereda, he's done. David, put down the pipe, pick up your girlfriend (oh, sorry, wife, now--how did I miss that?), her dog, and get your stuff; I'm personally paying for your trip to Andromeda. He's contributed so much to this field, that he's now earned a doctorate in pseudoscientific studies from USC-Berkeley. Whatta maroon. Now he's seeing basketball aliens...
Hey, Sereda, I've got an idea for you, why don't you stop watching Clippers games at night and reading Ashtar Command books before you go to bed? Get off our planet, you freaky hippie!]

This is why we listen to The Paracast. Christmas Eve, four guests, an absolute joke. A net total waste of time--and millions of people tune in to listen to this nonsense. Rosemary Ellen Beguiley, more like. Even before Art Bell left the show, it was going downhill. Now, it's just a waste of time. I'm surprised they didn't have some nut case on there describing parthenogenesis in biblical times, and how some mangers have been known to be attuned to mystical forces in Nazareth.

Coast has gone from truly exploring the mysteries of the unknown and the paranormal to making money selling advertising so that hucksters and shills can sell their own snake oil. Podcasts will be the end of conventional radio. Hooray for The Paracast, which will see the downfall of this drivel, and maybe even be the reason for it.

*What makes this edition so special? it's the same B.S. they spew out every night. They're just spreading it out more...

Ashtar? Sounds like some nasty cartoon character created for anti-smoking ads. He needs to bill those basketball guys for the repairs to his ceiling. Is he sure they didn't shoot through his head instead?
