Actually, this is a birthday part for Zorg, the great Palladian overlord for sector 6637. What is seen here is a very rare and complicated ambassadorial ritual to ensure 5 more years of peace. Unfortunately she was unsuccessful and ended up insulting Zorg. Apparently she was supposed to wear yellow sox. Or at least that is what my psychic reptilian contact is telling me.

Actually there's a psychological explanation for the whole pole dancing thing with the intern.
In our biological history until recently it has been a constant that as a female gets older, the finite time she traditionally has to bear young draws to an end. The aging female must compete with younger, conventionally more desirable, females in the mating market. The biological imperative for reproduction leads the aging female to compensate for age by engaging in outlandish acts to draw a desirable mate. Thus Thomas' terrible dancing.
