It's "In the Year 2525," by Zager and Evans, but you're right about the other song. Somewhere along the line a DJ I was associated with in the 1970s misled me on that one.
 
Ya, I worked in radio for 10 years... so I have all this knowledge just floating around there :) started out in oldies.. so played both of those about every day or so :)
 
At the time this song came out, I had already moved into news. Something about putting more than two words together and keeping them coherent, more or less. :)
