David Biedny - Expert....?

Free episodes:

Bits Missing

Paranormal Novice
So many guests fail to check up on David's profile before appearing on the show, but I wonder how many Paracasters have not checked or questioned his background. After all anyone can make up a profile can't they.... (and some of the guests have....)

Well I've been meaning to share this nugget of info for a while but keep forgetting. About 8months ago I was listening to another podcast called TWIP (This Week in Photography - really good if you are interested in digital photography) and they name checked David. The guys who present are relatively well known photographers, digital imaging experts and computer guys but they name checked David in an almost reverent fashion something along the lines of "even David Biedny says...."

When you've got such a high professional profile it really does take balls to start talking about this stuff in public and braving that curtain of laughter.

So thanks David (and Gene) for your dedication to the task in hand. Much like Richard Dawkins (and others) rejuvenated interest in athiesm and became (rightly or wrongly) a springboard/focal point for interest and sense, I like to think of you guys similarily forging a path to understanding, separating signal from noise, becoming that nodal point for sense and credible, intelligent assessment so that people like myself can begin to feel proud that they are interested in (or perhaps compelled to) understand this mystery.

Actually, it takes sheer stupidity and folly to associate with this material, and I pay the price every day for my lack of better judgement. Thanks for the positive comments, though, I had just promised to leave these forums for good, but felt compelled to acknowledge your kind post. With that said, this will indeed be my last post here. Take care.

Youre a glass half empty kinda guy eh?

C'mon David, ffs man. Youve got so many folks here who post on a regular basis who respect you for what youve done, your intelligence, and your courage to speak about your experiences in public.

Yet you allow one or two ignorant fucktards dictate where you spend your time?

WHY?

One hand I understand because I too am sensitive. Always been that way and it takes me by surprise a lot of the time.

But I have learnt to disregard most shit people say, ESPECIALLY when it is said out of IGNORANCE.

What's ffs mean?

If he ain't enjoying himself here, taking a break might be good for him. I think we all need one from time to time, so we don't wind up like certain crazies in the field.

This place seems to have less idiots than other places I've been on the net. I try and keep this in mind when I find myself getting annoyed.

Anyway, Take care David and try and have you some fun, or relax with the time you aren't here.

ffs Aaron, dont you know anything?

I don't know what spurted this need to abandon this forum, but I'll tell you one thing. Knowing you actively posted on here was a prime reason for me signing up. I liked the idea of the host getting involved with the fanbase and being active in all facets of the show.

Not to insult the other members of the forum, in fact, I praise them, I honestly expected a bunch of tightwad fucktards that thought they were the smartest thing on the fucking planet, but instead I found many well mannered, well spoken, and well informed posters. Though it all pales beside the ability to have a one-on-one conversation with the host of a show that has the potential to reach millions, not to mention someone with as much experience in the photo analysis field.

I hope your absence is more of a sabbatical than it is an exodus David. Either way, I'll still be listening every Sunday.

Hey David,

If ever I get to play 5/4, I just keep telling myself,
Life, is just a bowl of fucking cherries,
over and over again. This seems to help.

That particular time signature is all the more noticable to us, as we all seem to jam along quite nicely in 4/4. Useful piece of info to phone manufacturers, at least when I were a lad, timing the rings that is.

Like the other Mr db, I think you feel comfortable playing 5/4, many others may need to get their chops up to keep time, Im sure they'll get there. In the meantime have a nice break.

Peace,:)

Mark

Yeah 5/4 is tricky. lol I even find 3/4 occasionally challenging when I havent played anything in that time for a while. Throws you off for a second.

David's participation (and Gene's) is what made the forums more interesting and unique compared to others. It made members feel more like participants in the show rather than mere listeners. :)

Yeah, if you've been kicking around the Mac world for a while, especially since the early days of image editing, you'd definitely recognize dB's name from plenty of articles and reviews, as well as some fairly major Photoshop reference works.

"We want to hear from you. Please visit our forums, where you can talk to fellow listeners, and Gene and David."

Guess those dynamic discussion forums got a little too dynamic. Funny that David should choose to bow out now, just after there's been a string of "friends of the show" and credible researchers for the past several episodes.

Instinctively, you know you're on the right track. If Gallileo hadn't bothered looking through a telescope, we'd be living under a rotating black sheet with holes through which the light of god spilled lol.

Right now this 'material' is more or less the ingredients from which a cake will be baked from later. Its inconsistent and highly strange... but compelling.

My points of reference, looking at this stuff:
The age of the universe vs the age of our solar system.
The life-cycle of stars.
The propagation of life (transpermia through sentient/non-sentient methods).
The organization of intelligent life on earth its regulations and controls and an extrapolation of that organization in a galactic context.

The UFO phenomenon fits very well in that context. The universe is a dynamic and violent entity that forces the movement of life through infinitely complex and extremely basic means.

Life finds a way ;) (Jurassic Park lol)

Please don't go David! Your expertise is GREATLY appreciated here! Here's to hoping you continue to contribute to the forums. Also, Great round table show!

My trick when playing odd time signature (and I've played in a boat load of prog rock and fusion bands over the years! Gentle Giant, anyone? :D ) is... don't count! Really, just internalize it and play in time. I just hear the pattern in my head and follow it by feel.

When I start counting, or look at my left hand while playing, I mess myself up!

I have to get my brain out of the way. :D You should see me sight reading... playing along and then I'm thinking about something, and... where was I? :o I prefer to memorize things.

Yes, yes, yes, yes, and old yes. :)

I especially like the Wetton era Crimson, but I like it all, except maybe the first album. I can take it or leave it.

But KC, Gentle Giant, XTC, old Yes, and the Beatles are my favorite bands, and more recently Deerhoof.

I saw GG, Yes, and ELP a number of times, and KC back in 1980. I first heard of GG when I saw them opening for Mahavishnu Orchestra! I first heard of XTC when I saw them opening for the Talking Heads. I saw Belew with the Heads too. Good stuff!

I played a Ric 4001 for many years because of Squire. :D

I saw Fripp and TLCG in NYC for my 50th birthday in 2007. That was a treat!
