I would be very grateful to anyone who votes in this poll, because I am interested TV and its affect on sleep.
P.S if I have missed out an option in the poll you would like to see please tell me and I will try to fix it.

I can say that I have a TV, but it's almost never turned on. So, while I can't say that I've never fallen asleep in front of the TV, it is extremely rare. In the past, I'd sometimes take a short evening nap while watching a program, though I always turned off the TV when it was bedtime.

My housemate, on the other hand, has a TV he keeps in his bedroom. He almost always falls asleep with it on, even if it's still fairly early in the evening. He turns on the TV to watch a program, but because he hasn't slept well, he invariably falls asleep with it on and misses the program. Then he doesn't seem to sleep well, in part because the TV is blaring. I should also point out that he has both ADD and sleep apnea, neither of which he treats, so it's possible these things are part of a vicious cycle. He spends his days chronically fatigued while spending his nights with the TV on and frequently awakening to fidget with other gadgets.

We have 3
One downstairs which i watch while i prepare dinner
One upstairs a nice 50 inch 3D HDTV (which is also my PC monitor, gaming screen etc)
And yes one in the bedroom, which i watch in the evening.

I would fall asleep while its on, about two times a year. Its a very rare occurance but it has happened.

None of my business, but this is not good. My wife was in a bad way with chronic sleep apnea before finally deciding to have it diagnosed and treated. After which she felt better than she had in years.

The internet is my video drug of choice. I will occasionally doze with a movie or whatever on. But not often.

You're preaching to the choir. My friend has had a prescription to do a sleep clinic for years, in order to determine the extent of his apnea. He hasn't yet bothered to do this, even though he knows he has the apnea and once slept with an oxygen machine. Also keep in mind, we're at 8800 feet in elevation. Low oxygen levels can be a problem even for those who don't have sleep apnea. Unfortunately, he complains if I don't remind him, yet tells me I'm nagging if I do. This is someone who is 16 years older than I.... Anyway, I'm just his housemate - and not for much longer. His sleep apnea and ADD are just two problems he won't address. I have no ability to make him care for himself.

I don't own a TV anymore......... got rid of it many years ago.

While I don't think I'm going to go Stoney's route and commit electronic homicide I can say that I haven't fallen asleep in front of a tv in decades, I do on occasion fall asleep asleep listening to the radio.

I decided years back not to have a TV in the bedroom after having one but you get rid of one bad habit and replace it with another. Now I don't go to bed unless there is a radio or podcast playing. I find it helps me sleep. The more I concentrate on listening, the more I end up drifting off.....zzzzz
