Dreamed that my Grandfather died before he died.

My grandparents lived in our basement for a short period of time. We lived in the country and they were building a house a couple of hundred meters from ours. I used to have nightmares and night terrors constantly from the time I was around 5 until I was in my mid to late 20's. I don't have them much now for some reason (I also used to sleep walk every time I had a nightmare between ages 5 and 9 or so). One night, when I was around 9 or so, I dreamed that I was walking through our house and went to the basement. It was dark and creepy. I remember seeing a large hard candy on the floor of the basement. It was red and in the shape of a hershey's chocolate bar, but it was more like a jolly rancher. I went to grab it and I heard a voice tell me not to be so greedy and it shattered almost into dust (I honestly don't know what the heck that had to do with anything). I then walked over to my grandpa's bed and he wasn't moving or breathing. I ran upstairs and outside. In the middle of our yard we had a stone birdbath. In my dream there was an earthquake and the birdbath shattered. I also remember seeing a carnival off in the distance (again, not sure what this had to do with anything), like over a mile away on a hill. Then the dream proceeded with me running through creek beds and sandy/rocky areas and I woke up screaming. I guess it was a year or so later my grandfather had a massive heart attack in his sleep, was rushed to the hospital where he eventually died of a follow-up heart attack. Probably just coincidence. I mean, it's pretty easy to tell someone "you're going to die" before they do because we all will die, and Grandpa was 71 at the time of the dream. It was a really freaky dream though.

When my great grandfather died a number of people (not including me) had some kind of experience around the time of his death. So I don't out of hand dismiss anybody's experiences. Although I will ask this question, "at the time did you think it was about your grandfather's death or did you think it was about that only after he died?"

Honestly I didn't think about it for a couple of years after his death. There could be nothing to it.

For what it's worth I always offer this advice when it comes to dream interpretation. Do it without expectation and ask the elements in your dream what they mean. It sounds weird but think about your dream and ask the individual elements in your dream that really stand out to you what they mean. Your brain will usually come up with an answer. Just remember be honest with yourself or you'll just give yourself answers you want to hear instead of true answers.

I honestly wouldn't know how to interpret any of my dreams. Many of them are so incredibly nightmarish that when I awake, I always have a new appreciation for life. Some of them are very frightening, but very exciting, that when it is over, I look back and realize that it was fun. At the time though, they were all as if I was in a hellish place and I just wanted out. I have had dreams of travling through space, dreams of flying only to fal into a mass of the dead, and dreams of people that should be dead. When I was 6, I dreamed that our hard wood floor was covered in an inch of jelly wax. However there was about an inch gap between the wax and the floor. I accidentally rolled a toy under the wax, out of reach. Thenrest of thendream was a future me (much older) being interviewed about the incident. My dreams are usually very memorable, but make no sense. Some are incredibly fascinating, like the time in my 20's when I dreamed that A planet was so close to the earth that it was probably more that 20 times the size of the moon in the sky and millions of people weremtaking massive sailing ships to somemsafe location. Galleons, not modern ships, but they were massive and Christ was on the center one. Yeah, I don't know how to interpret my dreams pretty much ever. lol.

One nightmare that continues to haunt me is one wherena young red headed child shows up. I don't know who he is, but since I was 5, he has scared me so badly that I cannot even scream. One morning after waking up in the field during Marine combat training, one of my friends asked if I was ok. I had been making weezing noises for a few minutes before we awoke. Well, that was another dream of the red headed kid. I was so scared that I was trying to scream but couldn't. He didn't have to do anything but be present.

Dude your dreams are awesome! I dream like that from time to time. Lately it's been giant space ships that look huge even when above the clouds. I always think when I have those dreams "oh my god if those things fall out of he sky they're going to crush all of us" then when I wake up I think about how awesome those dreams are.

I used to have dreams something like that. Don't laugh mine were about "pink fuzzy bunnies" kind of patterned after how Jim Henson used to make his monster muppets. It would be cool if you'd talk to the red headed child.

The best dreams come when you drink too much water before bed time. You are more frequently in the dream state because you are always waking up to go to the bathroom. Also sorry about my terrible typing above. I am on a tablet and I fat finger a lot. Lol.

If I have that dream of the red headed kid again I will try. As you know, most dreams are very real, so I may not remember to talk to him. I may only run and wake up screaming as usual.

By the way, I have always found dreams much more interesting that physical anomalies because I have always believed that we have the opportunity to leave our physical bindings during the dream state. If that is true then that introduces a whole host of possibilities where UFO's, unusual beings, and other paranormal sightings are concerned. There are so many of us sleeping at one time every day, and since energy cannot be destroyed, could it be possible that all of these sightings, ghosts, et's, etc., are a result of a mass human brain dump?

I'm also on a tablet. Also I've never heard of the water thing before. I'm going to try it.

I never really thought about it that way before. It's worth looking into. So basically a telepathic intrusion into waking minds by sleeping minds or residual thought imprints picked up by waking minds?

Do you ever lucid dream?

Exactly. I don't think I have lucid dreamed more than a second. It's so difficult to tell dreams from real life when it is happening.
