While this is a bit of militaristic extremism-rightfully so since they are bordered by an open enemy- I am often puzzled by the lack of military protection that US engines of infrastructure receive. One of the first things, were I commander in chief, I would have done after 9/11 would have been to secure those sites. But I'm not an alarmist in reality.
What good does it do when 8 throwbacks with box cutters can defeat US air defenses and collapse three buildings by striking two them with air planes?

When I was in S. Korea some years ago during a joint operation exercise I noticed something peculiar: all of their power plants and steel refineries were surrounded by concrete walls with anti- aircraft guns mounted on each corner.
