Everyone is humanoid!??

So from my basic research into potential alien biology, there appears to be a divide in what mainstream science would predict an Alien race to look like.
Camp one says that alien life would be completely different to any life that we know, mainly because it would have evolved on a different planet, with different gravity and a whole host of other variables.

Camp two says that time and time again on earth, mother nature seems to have repeatedly come up with the same answers when overcoming the problems in life that creatures have faced. For example, in two places that might have been completely seperated, creatures in both instances evolved eyes, or legs. Therefore it would be likely that it would do the same on other planets.

One thing that has struck me though, is that almost every non human entity coming out of a craft, that i have heard of, seems to have been humanoid. It always seems to be little greys taking soil samples, or italian looking aliens wearing woolly hats and making pancakes.
Where are all the giant worms, or 10 legged ant like beings?
Having said that, i dont know of any cases where we have seen a being come out of a giant triangle, maybe they are so big because they have one giant being in there!


Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

There have been a number of cases where the alleged occupants of UFOs have not been humanoid in appearance. Here are a few:

Abduction by robot-like beings in Brazil (La Rubia case) - Paciencia (near Rio de Janeiro), Brazil - September 15, 1977 - UFO Evidence

There was also a case here in Wales, where a boy claimed to have encountered a UFO with weird, jelly-like occupants. I think I first came across this case in Timothy Good's Above Top Secret. It's also mentioned here:

Location. Near Machynlleth Powys Wales
Date: July 22 1975
Time: 1700
Trevor, a young boy, on vacation with his family in Wales, wandered alone to the top of Wylfa Hill. At the top, he saw, some 50 feet beyond the ridge, an object, apparently sitting on the ground. About 40 feet wide, it was comprised of a 7-foot round base and surmounted by a clear plastic like hemispherical dome. Large round lights about 5 ft in diameter were spaced evenly around the base, about 7 of which were visible, shining in colors that were strange to the boy; each seemed to be recessed into the silvery, metallic base. Clearly seen within the dome was a 7-foot tall, 15-foot wide, metallic unit; no knobs or dials were visible upon it. Two "jelly like" entities were seen next to the unit, one on this side and the other on the far side. These forms were approximately 7-foot tall, of a whitish translucent color, amorphous like and constantly changing shape. Inside of each form were hundreds of 6-inch, white disc like forms, similar to donuts. From the internal motion of these discs, it appeared as though the central portion of the forms remained inactive. After about 25 seconds from the moment he first saw the object, the boy observed a 7x7 foot panel extend outward to the ground on the extreme right hand side of the base. At the same time, one of the two jelly-like forms began moving downward toward the opening, as if through a duct or unseen passageway. Terrified the boy fled the hill, running in search of his father, yelling, "You won't believe me-come on!" He then turned around and ran back up the hill; his father remained where he was. At the hilltop, Trevor now saw that the panel had disappeared and the two forms were again in their original positions next to the panel. The lights on the base, and another in the apex of the dome, began blinking faster and faster, taking on the colors of the landscape beyond. These "colors" began to envelope the entire object and thus it gradually disappeared from view in place by merely blending in with the natural background. When the boy rejoined his father, the two of them returned to the site but there was nothing to be seen, nor were there any traces at the landing site. In subsequent days & weeks, the witness suffered from a series of physiological & psychological problems and was eventually given psychiatric counseling.

I've also read one or two other cases where big blobs of jelly were alleged to emerge from UFOs, but can't remember the names of them.

i think its highly likely life takes many many forms, as do the occupants and or builders of the craft. (again reminded of david brins "uplift" series of fiction here)
i think "sightings" could be sorted into "accidental" and on "purpose", and i wonder if the on purpose ones are the ones where the humanoid form is seen. a sort of psychological camoflage.just as hunters sometimes disguise their scent/identity by dousing themselves with the scent/identity of the animal being hunted

Thanks Siani those are good cases. My initial thought with the boy who saw the jelly like ones is that tha fact that he was getting mental counselling shortly after the incident raises alarm bells as it could be that his mental problems are what caused him to believe he saw something.

When I saw those robots, my initial reaction was to laugh as they look so ridiculous.... but you know thats the thing.... any ET would probably look ridiculous to us. Perhaps what would be more ridiculous would be if the ET's did actually look like us.

I once heard a researcher say, the chances of you shaking hands with a pancake off a ufo is zero. I agree. How would a pancake build it?

The reason weve seen many humanoid occupants of UFO craft is because we dont know the full story. IMO we are related in some way to any type of humanoid that is sighted.

I absolutely believe there is some bizarre as shit aliens out there - but we havent seen them yet because they are so so many light years away and arent travelling here in flying discs from a base on the back of the moon (thats right, I went there).

I maintain that science has it's head up it's ass on this one. As far as we know there is only one sentient species- humans. Now everything else in nature falls into a template- Wanna fly? You'll need wings. Predator? Sharp teeth and strength. And on and on. Doesn't matter if it's a bat, a bird or a butterfly, a tiger, a wolf or a crocodile, there's a template.

I'm guessing sentient and tool-using means bipedal and eyes front ie humanoid.
