Film recommendation: DREDD

nameless

Paranormal Adept
Screenplay by Alex Garland. Watch DREDD 3d in the cinema . Its pretty good within its genre. Its like a scifi version of The Raid. Urban makes a good Dredd too. You will recall he was an excellent McCoy (ed-cheers gene)from Star Trek. Much closer to the comic, whch in my eyes was always meant to be a Dirty Harry style dude. The style and cinematography is made releavant by the actual premises of the story and the filming in J-berg and Cape town gives it a real future setting.

Total recall is a non-event in comparison, def wait for dvd. but DREDD is a good cinema experience.

Karl Urban is Dr. McCoy. :)

Scotty is Simon Pegg, who also appeared in the last two Mission Impossible films with Tom Cruise.

As to Dredd, well it's a bomb at the box office. Evidently the comic book fandom didn't represent a high enough number to get a large audience. It got decent reviews, and may do well in the DVD/VOD releases, but it'll disappear quickly from the multiplex.

Nameless' other film recomendation is Lawless.

That is a really cool ass film about prohibition moon shine running. Batman's Tom Hardy and Gary Oldman also star and give gravitas to a subtly superior gangster film with an excellent blue grass soundtrack based on the memoirs of one of the mythicly legendary brother protagonists in the film. good cast and great direction take what is a essentialy a characature levi comercial and turn it into cinema gold. great entertainment with some vicious scenes.

dont see Savages which is Olver STone's return to style over substance and a weak ass corny dialogue script and overbearing visuals story of hapless trustafarian dope smuggling blue chip west coast frappacino douches.

I'll see it in the cinema, its not often i do these days, but this one will be worth the effort.

I love JD, i have an original first edition of the very first story, published in prog 2 of 2000AD

Here we go the first ever JD story

apparently if DREDD makes at least 50 million in US sales there will be a sequel for sure. Alex garland is already writing 2 and 3. Oh yeah if you watch the movie closer you will see lots of 2000ad injokes plus some cool graffiti that will give you a clue to what to expect in the next movies.

It won't. It has earned about $7.85 million as of September 26, with no overseas receipts reported yet. It'll probably do less than $20 in the U.S., and the production budget was estimated at $50 million. Not a chance for a sequel.

Its not due for release in australia till Oct 25

Drokk it !

I'll see it at the cinema and buy the DVD, and the soundtrack DVD.

I have the first movie on DVD and the soundtrack DVD was great, still play it often
