Finally - Netflix in Canada

Friendly Skeptic
I know that there are several other Canadians on this forum, so this is some great news for those of us that have been jealous of our American friends. I know I've been wanting Netflix streaming since they announced it years ago, so I can't wait to start streaming HD to my Xbox 360 and/or PS3 (yes, I have both, I am a videogame nerd).

Anyone here use it? Any other Canadians as excited as me?

Angelo

You bet. BUT, is the content going to be the same, or is Netflix going to be forced to show mostly Canadian content? (TV)

Finally, no more being ripped off by the big monopolies.

Think I might finally cut the cable/telus connection as their prices are insane.

You'll still need internet, and don't forget that all those lovely HD streams will require GBs of bandwidth, so make sure you'r cap isn't too low. I'll be sticking with my current cable plan because it isn't too expensive, and using Netflix to find some interesting shows and movies.
With regards to the content, there'll probably be some differences, but it'll be better than nothing.

I have Telus fiber optic at 15Mbps and the cap is very large as they provide the TV channels through the internet. I figure, as long as I keep their minimum channel lineup (cheap) - I shouldn't have a problem and I can stream my favorite TV shows - or at least find something to watch. I just read on the internet, that for now we will need a netflix disk for our PS3's, but Microsofts' exclusive for software based streaming of Netflix, expires this year. PERFECT

I hope we can get most of their TV lineup as well as the movies, as their monthly plan is a steal when compared to renting a dvd from your local store.

This will end the monopolies enjoyed here in Canada.

Are they showing "talkies" on Canadian Netflix yet or will that come later when they introduce "color?"

Geez dude, at least spell it right! "Colour" is how you spell it.

My excitement was premature, as the selection is not even half of y'all get in the USA. I may still give it a try since I get a month for free.

Don't want to cause "flix envy" Angel but I got it on my Ipod. ;)It really is neat just be patient cause your will enjoy it.

No 'Flix envy at all! I'm glad that they've started it here. No doubt the selection will get better.

Just kidding. I'm sure your gonna enjoy it. I love being able to download their "free" online selections right to the t.v. or pc. I say "free" but you actually pay for it with your subscription. But, it is neat. 8)

My only worry is that I have a bandwidth cap of 60GB. Hopefully that won't hold me back too much. It's not like I have tome to watch that many movies per month.
