Paranormal Lurker Apprentice
Hello everyone,
This is my first post on the forum, but I have been a lurker on the forum and listened to the Paracast for a year or so.
I wish to share an interesting event I have seen almost a week ago that occurred last Wednesday on May 5th, 2010 around 12:30PM. I was traveling east-southeast on Highway 54 going onto 15-501 towards Chapel Hill, North Carolina just before work. I happen to be on my motorcycle and I notice a glint of light coming from up high in the sky of the same direction I’m traveling (roughly 12 o’clock high). My first thought was, “What the hell?” It distracted me and I was lucky that I was not around other motorists on the road. Then my eyes focused on the object and I said to myself in my helmet, “that shouldn’t be there. It stayed stationary in one spot not moving in a particular direction. I asked myself if that was a satellite or a moon. The sky was somewhat overcast and this thing appeared to be below the cloud layer, that rules out satellites and planetary bodies. I then wondered if it could be a balloon, but it definitely did not have the shape of any typical balloon having a tear drop round shape. This appeared to be disc or flat shaped. I then wondered if I had a rock chip in my visor, so I rotated my helmet around while keeping my eyes fixed on the object, it wasn’t my mind playing tricks on me and it wasn’t an obstruction on my helmet. I wasn’t able to discern any more features even when I tried. I really could not compare this to anything else I have seen before. I think less than a minute has passed from the time I was aware of the object to the point of where “it just disappeared”. Those are a poor choice of words, but I don’t know how else to describe it, I just lost perception of it. I don’t know if it just winked out, or moved faster than I could see. I spent the next few minutes trying to reacquire the object in the sky with no success. I did not stay around longer because I felt I was unsafe and needed to bring my attention back to the road I’m on.
The event stayed with me ever since it occurred. I tried telling my fiancé about it that night and her only response was along the lines of “that’s nice dear.” I made mental notes of as much information as I could to keep this memory from fading away. I am neutral attitude about what that object could be, because I don’t know what it was. I’m even open to the possibility that it wasn’t an object but just part of my imagination, but I think that was unlikely because I was very alert and aware of my surroundings. I really wish I had bought a helmet camera, some riders always have their helmet camera on so they can document everything they do (such as a multi-vehicle crash and defend themselves in court).
Back on topic, I do not plan on reporting this to anyone or the authorities because I do not want this to affect my record. I am in school right now and may work for the government in the future and I don’t want this event to hurt my chances of getting a good job. Does anyone else have any insight on other ways I could rule out the identity of this object to some natural occurrence or manned craft? I am completely puzzled and I am open to to anything it could be, even man made.
Thank you!
EDIT: I want to add that the object appeared to be metallic, like it was chrome or stainless steel disc.
I am unable to tell you if there was a sound or not, because I had ear plugs in to block out wind noise.
