Food for thought

I'm still trying to digest it...pun sorta intended.

but unless I'm reading it wrong wouldn't it suggest that man could be Devolving instead of evolving? (whatever that entails) If that means loosing the capacity of having emotions...which doesn't seem imparitive to our survival and would probably become the first aspect of humanity to disappear and more so would we not become less conscious which would be a blow to those that hope that mankind will finally "get it"...unless one wants to argue our emotions get in the way of becoming conscious...The article mentions fear but i would think that is more instinct based if anything, our fear and warriness is what helps us survive. If anything under this scenario I would think we would become less creative and stop thinking outside the box and maybe ultimately become less conscious.

Many of those little grey freaks that pop up from time to time seem to lack empathy maybe they are us trying to regain our humanity

you can see what happens to me when I try to become relevant.

it's like that line from "across the universe"

...Thoughts meander like a restless wind inside a letter box They tumble blindly as they make their way across the universe...

Terrance McKenna - The Message

So far as I'm concerned his message for people to "take more" hallucinogens is the last thing we need if we want to build any credibility for the Paracast. We're not going to separate the signal from the noise by taking hallucinogens. Not only that but his point about truth doesn't require drugs. Truth stands on it's own regardless of whether or not you're on drugs, and numerous objective studies show that straight people are more in touch with it. Sure he says he's tried it all and preaches his views based on his experiences of being high. But I've been to plenty of parties as a straight person and watched how messed up and out of touch with reality people on drugs have gotten. Try it sometime, when the whole room is high except you, suddenly it's all reversed and it's you who are more in tune with reality than all the wasted people.

Also, his entire rant is antisocial and self-centered, focused primarily on individual experience and drug buddies rather than any wider social responsibility. But fine, if he wants to go wander around in the forest and eat psychedelic mushrooms, I don't have a problem with him lobbying for the right to do so. I don't believe we should all be repressed either. But all that rationale, including legalization and the stupid "war on drugs" is still beside the point. I'm not in the Paracast to become part of some kind of drug culture, and I don't think it should be promoted here ( which is what McKenna's video blatantly does ). We have a hard enough time convincing people that UFOs are real without them thinking we're all on hallucinogens too.

I have to admit i agree with that, i dont find hallucinogens helpful when dealing with the paranormal.
It muddys the water

Im open to the idea certain alkaloids have an evolutionary effect on a species as the article suggests
And i think ppl should make their own minds up about recreational pharmacueticals, my only caveat being do your research and do it safely

But the testimony of someone who's tripping and says i can see the interdimensional elves is worthless to me, because there is no way to be sure its not just an hallucination.

All good man.. Like dose not always mean agree ... should have been clear on that

but if people report the same type of experience while meditating or practicing kundalini yoga that they do taking hallucinogeics couldn't you also argue that those endeavors are equally valuable...or worthless...when it comes to evolving.?

I guess it is the way in which people approach the concept, drugs seem the easy way out ..... but then again these plants were never meant to be used in a recreational way so in many ways modern man has lost the sacred meaning that is attached to them.
