What made Michael Jordan a truly great athlete is that he showed up for the big game and delivered, particularly when it really mattered at the end of the game. England may have better soccer players than the U.S., but they failed to step up when it counted.

Soccer just isn't that big of a sport in the U.S., although it is gradually growing in popularity. Imagine if just a fraction of the best athletes in baseball, basketball and football played soccer instead of their game of choice.
