In 1966 and they won it on home soil, they staged the World cup that year. To win it outside your nation is more of an achievement, but i can't be too critical here. England won it still that year with a team that was pretty good in the overall scheme of things. I think England over the years has been too hyped up with the media in England. There not as good as the media makes out over there.
