AFP - The Argentine Air Force has created a commission to record and investigate reports of unidentified flying objects (UFO) in the South American country's airspace, a spokesman told AFP Wednesday.
The Commission for the Investigation of Airspace Phenomenon "is in the process of being formed," said Captain Mariano Mohaupt.

Officials said the air force already holds records of reported UFO sighting, but the interdisciplinary commission -- involving meteorologists, air traffic controllers and civilian pilots alongside military authorities -- would formalize the data keeping.

Other South American countries including neighboring Brazil and Uruguay and have previously moved to record alleged UFO sightings.

Argentine authorities urged military and civilian pilots as well as air traffic controllers to report their experiences and, if possible, to send any documenting evidence.

Considering what a hotspot Argentina has been, it's surprising they took this long. Most likely, they've have been doing it quietly all along.

The original source for this story was Alfred Webre through his Examiner blog. When he posted it (http://www.examiner.com/exopolitics-in-seattle/breaking-news-argentine-air-force-announces-committee-to-study-ufo-phenomenon-1)
on the 23rd December, there wasn't a link or source to be found on the internet. I searched Argentine news sources using a variety of keywords and drew blanks. As it now stands, there are quite a few articles about the story and none pre-date Webre's. The ones I've read have the same quotes as his article too.

Now it's entirely possible that there is an Argentine news source that Webre used and I couldn't find it. Otherwise, it's just one more in a seemingly endless line of Examiner UFO articles that appear to have been made up. Authors are paid-per-click so it helps if the title and contents generate internet interest.

Kandinsky is absolutely right. At the time that was the reason I also skiped the news.
This time it was published by France24 and that fact initiated my eyebrows a little bit (their version of BBC World Service). They are naming their source as Captain Marino Mohaupt that allegedly gave statement to AFP (Agence France Presse). Also as we can read in the France24 article, the comission is not formed - it is in the process to be formed. That still can mean anything, even negative outcome. I am also working on this and trying to dig further.
