I'm having the biggest issue with the whole Frank's Box thing.
Now granted science is based on some sort of speculative theory and random ideas, I still don't understand the whole "telephone to the dead". Here's my problem...
1 An engineer is assigned on the other side.
2 There are only so many engineers so not all boxes will work.
3 The unit works by scanning AM/FM frequencies
Here's my take
1 An egineer on the other side? Maybe...who can honestly say
2 Only so many engineers reminds me of "I'm invisible as long as everyone closes their eyes"
3 Scanning AM/FM frequencies is one major issue. Chances are, you'll get words back and it's statistically possible that at any stage you'll get words that form short sentences. Maybe 2-4 words. So, coincidence or a telephone to the dead?
Ok...so seeing as there is a lack of scientific method in the paranormal scene why are people treating this device like the holy grail? By scientific method I don't mean walking around with uncalibrated devices and gadgetry. I mean, having a hypothesis, controls, direct/indirect variables noted....you know....all the science theory from school.
Now back to the Frank's Box. I have seen video footage of the device being used. I have seen the faces of the audience who obviously think it's a telephone to the dead...but...here's an idea. How about someone ask questions in Spanish. See if you get Spanish responses. I mean, Spanish is widely spoken around the world, so if you are scanning a predominantly english speaking frequency range and you get Spanish responses to your questions...then maybe I'll consider this device as something more than a money making venture with no merit.
"Oh but Jose...how do you expect Spanish responses on an Eenglish band?" Yupp yupp....how indeed. I don't expect it...I do expect English for the obvious reasons. So hit me with some Spanish responses and maybe I'll consider this thing.
I have seen people who claim to be sceptical about the paranormal eat this up. I question their speculative nature if they can't see the flaws in this device. I'm sceptical because I'm tired of the BS surrounding the scene. Plenty of theories that have absolutely no scientific literature to back them up or anyone willing to thoroughly investigate these "theories". How many times have you heard "In theory..." and asked yourself "What theory? Who's theory? Please elaborate". When I hear the words "In theory" my brain turns off. It's a cop out...it's just like saying "Dude, I have no idea...but this is what everyone else thinks"
In theory...there's an engineer on the other side. What kind of engineer? Electrical? Mechanical? Structural?
Seriously...I could write a tragic comedy about the idea and "theory" behind this thing...and maybe I'm just completely wrong and everyone else is right. Who knows.
