Friday night Rich will be joining me in studio and we will probably open the phone lines early. Hope you can join us and I will try to hold this damned head-cold at bay for the duration of the show ... LOL!!

Right after DMR we "air" a Part 01 on Vicious Vinyl where I zero in on the British "super-group" Led Zeppelin! Considered by many (although I would argue the point) that LZ is the greatest rock group ... EVER! Hope to "see ya" there!

PS For anyone that wonders why I did not list The Beatles, well they are in a class of their own.

I updated the poll to include The Beatles, because I don't think it's fair not to have them in this list, even if they'd probably win by default. And, other than her early career, Janis Joplan was a solo act, but I didn't change anything otherwise, other than to provide a "None of the above" option for those who have other ideas. I like the Moody Blues. :)

The Beatles are in a class of their own but I don't consider them a 'rock' group. They are hard to pigeon-hole due to the breadth of their musical style.
For a straight rock group, it can only be Zeppelin. Page's riffs make that easy to pick!

Recently I've developed an appreciation for Led Zeppelin, but since you asked me right now, i gotta choose the Doors.

Doors fans aren't made, they'e born! (Must watch video)

Looking forward to tonight Don and Rich.

I've got to go with the Zeppelin. Pink Floyd edges them as my favorite group, but in terms of what Page and Plant brought to the genre, there is no other rock group that could be the "best."

I mean, stand alone riffs, heart wrenching screams, innovative recording techniques, and the inspiration of many other bands....that's the stuff of legend. (Although my all time favorite recording of any band would have to be Pink Floyd's "Live at Pompeii.")

I was into the Southern California country rock sound. I love the Eagles and Poco and Linda Ronstadt. Gotta have Stevie Nicks somewhere and I would have to show my redneck roots and have some Marshall Tucker and Lynerd Skynerd. But, as a force I have to agree with the Beatles. Although, I like Mick, Kieth and the boys cutting into Honkey Tonk Women and Beast of Burden.

If we do albums I'm gonna have to add Queen "News of the World" and Styx "Grand Illusion." I know it's around 30 plus years to late. But, I ended up with "Frampton Comes Alive" on 8 track after one smoky, boozy night in my youth. I hated that damn album. :p

Oh man ... the Dead heads would be upset that their band isn't on that poll.
I voted Floyd.

Neuraxis - Some serious rock going on here.

Look, the Doors are a great band but they are nowhere near as varied (in a good way) as the others on the list. Maybe if Jim Morrison had lived and they had made more albums but with Floyd and Zep you are considering 10years+ of music. I don't like polls or album sales as exact indicators but look at the sales for Dark Side or Led Zep IV - they are huge for a reason.

I am also gonna put Floyd in the progressive rock category and yes I realise you can categorise to death all music...........
But for RAWK music, it's gotta be Led Zep. Go on, just play 'Whole Lotta Love' riff in your head now.....that is rock!

aww Don they are all really good choices!

But my vote is for Pink Floyd :D ... to say I am a really big fan would be a Titanic understatement.
Also a huge Doors and Led Zeppelin fan but Floyd wins out sorry

I will note however that Floyd were anything but a straight up rock band like Led Zep so like the Beatles hard to pigeon hole IMO.
