Galaxy may contain 1 earth-like planet for every sun like star

I'll tell you that the Kepler mission could be a very important one. In about three years we should know how many "Earths" are out there, if any. Not surprisingly,I haven't heard much news about this mission, but it may very well be able to tell us with some confidence whether our planet rare or not.

Then what the hell happens when we do spot the other pale blue dots?? Or we spot none??

It really wasnt that bad. They were using the Star Trek reference to show that perhaps the Rodenbury idea that intelligent life could be abundant throughout our Galaxy. I actually didnt mind the reference.

On your advice Ron, I read the piece, it wasn't so bad. I was really fed when I wrote that, about mistreatment of the phenomenon in the major media. I guess a lot of folks on this site probably is too. Oh well, I occasionally savour the taste of foot.
