Yeah I agree. If a person has been subject to bizarre ufo-related experiences and decides to go public with them, he has an idea of what's coming on the horizon. Nearly every ordinary person when joking about ufos and aliens, makes references to "anal probes". This was put forward as someone's factual and traumatic experience, and it is literally a joke to millions of people. That's almost equivalent to a girl coming forward and claiming to be raped, but the courts find inadequate proof to convict the defendant, so everyone in the country openly laughs and ridicules her.


So put yourself in an "alien contactee's" shoes. Your personal and often painful experiences are going to be the target of ridicule whether you like it or not, so really the only sane approach is not to take yourself so seriously.
