I have seen the future...and it is very stoopid.

Here's one that went through the Bronx and stopped at the lights :D

More proof for my theory that car companies purposely make alternative transports look as lame as possible in order to keep pushing their gas guzzling behmoths on us just to satisfy gear-heads whose manhood is entirely invested in being able to hear the car go "VROOM!" when they press down on the pedal. It's goddamn pathetic.

What bugs me, is that these car companies piss away BILLIONS of dollars when probably a couple hundred thousand in the right hands could generate a new wave of technology.

The do it yourselfer, the home inventor, the unbridled, non-corporatized genius has been literally factored out, because of public schools.

It's unfortunate too, because back in the day, people could invent their own stuff, and literally have no problems driving it around.

I've been toying with the idea of making a 3 wheeled job that would transport two people. There's a couple of companies making them right now that are fricking awesome.

People can buy the shit that the big companies make, or they can make their own.

Well, at least in germany, Opel (Vauxhall in Britain), GM's european son/daughter, is actively pushing Hybrid cars.

I didn't really see it as a replacement but more like a 2 seater people mover. I didn't really think it was that bad of an idea for a heavy populated metropolitan area. But we'd never get away with something like that on the back roads of wisconsin. Or in town in the winter. It needs a little design help but over all not a bad idea in a city setting. But then again why reinvent the moped? (nice in the rain though)

Try and imagine Steve McQueen in one of those.

Luckily, Mr. McQueen is safe from that kind of undeserved humiliation. Vin Diesel is available, though.

What stuns me is the price of that ridiculous contraption is projected to be fifteen to twenty thousand dollars. That is absolutely ridiculous. So is the whole concept of a hybrid vehicle. If you think the car you're driving now is a bottomless cash pit, just wait until you're forced to drive an over-engineered piece of Rube Goldberg crap that has virtually been designed by the feds. Won't that be fun?

The cost of proof of concept will be paid by early adopters, the japanese, chinese, indians, koreans will copy it and sell it for about 3k and bankrupt GM for good ;)
