Getting my puppy in a few hours. Half Siberian husky, half German Shephard. 11 months old and weighs in at 70 lbs. I'll put up pictures tomorrow or the day after.

Fucking excited!

Damn!!! Look at that thing... goddam gorgeous I tell ya.

So why not get one after only a few weeks to a month? Not that it matters, but I would be concerned the pup has already bonded pretty hard with whoever was looking after it the past 11 months.

Awesome dog though man.

I am holding you personally responsible if I come home and find yet another dog in my backyard. My girlfriend just looked over and said "awwwwwww!" That's where my pet collection usually starts to grow.

Seriously, that dog looks so awesome.

Thanks man, he's a big suck.

As for the age thing, I've always been a supporter of getting animals from rescue services, and one nearby had this guy, who is still fairly young, not to mention that a dog under 7 months costs twice as much, and the need their shots and whatnot sooner and might not have been spayed/neutered.

Ten months is still fairly young, and he's warmed up to my girlfriend and I really quickly, so it worked out pretty well.

Good point(s).

Good for you for adopting an older pup. Most dogs are pretty resilient and will bond quite quickly to whomever provides the food and rules. I work with my breed rescue and had a 3yr old foster that lived with me for 10 months before we found the right home for her. By day 3 she was like one of the family.

Congrats on the new puppy.
