Now, in a somewhat "lighter vein" I bring good news from the kitchen ....

This woman is 51 yrs old. She is TV health guru Gillian McKeith, advocating a holistic approach to nutrition and health, and promoting exercise, a vegetarian
diet which is high in organic fruits and vegetables. She recommends detox diets, colonic irrigation, and supplements.

This woman is also 51. She is Nigella Lawson... a TV cook, who eats meat,
butter, chocolate and desserts ..... and, she washes it all down with wine!

Become a vegetarian? I think not ... I rest my case.

Is the Gillian McKeith & Nigella Lawson Age Comparison Accurate? | wafflesatnoon.com

The comparison of Gillian McKeith (sometimes erroneously referred to as Karan Diwan) vs. Nigella Lawson—pointing out that Lawson smokes, drinks, eats meat and desserts and looks fab, while McKeith is a health guru who, it’s implied, looks not-so-fab—first started circulating around the internet through chain mail, and now it’s resurfacing on Facebook. But wherever you happen to come across it, I implore you: Don’t share it. It’s trash. Even if you think you’re making a smart point about why certain diets and lifestyles are b.s., you’re doing so in a way that bashes females, prizing beauty and sending messed-up messages about the importance of health.

In both cases, it’s insinuated that attractiveness is a) the most important feature of women (above health), and b) a valid marker of someone’s overall health. They also assume that we should all be measured along the same standards of beauty (god forbid anyone actually find McKeith attractive because she doesn’t have huge breasts or the facial features that have been idealized on film and tv), and they gloss over the fact that genetics play a big role in aging and attractiveness. Sound familiar? This isn’t a far cry from the ridiculous weight and beauty standards promoted by advertising; both are aimed at whittling down a woman’s worth and making her feel that her looks are more important than anything else.

Nigella Lawson, Gillian McKeith, Karan Diwan Photo, Do Not Share

While one could easily argue that there is some validity to the photo and the caption, there are many factors involved. First, does Nigella simply possess more natural beauty, drawn from a youthful-looking gene pool? Do their outward appearances accurately reflect their inner health? Just because Nigella is still attractive doesn’t mean her arteries aren’t 85% clogged. Did Nigella seek out plastic surgery to assist in her youthful appearance?

Gillian looks much different in her studio shots.
It’s easy to find better pictures of Gillian out there. So with her, it’s clear that the person creating the graphic chose among Gillian’s worst photos to drive the message home. In all honestly, it’s rather difficult to find a bad picture of Nigella. That only proves that she is truly a beautiful woman, and most 51-year old women would find a comparison to her daunting, based on appearance alone.

I wonder..Is it known if the original graphic posting was done in a satirical manner, or meant to be malicious ? Or for that matter an actual attempt to advocate a certain lifestyle? In satire I'd say most anyone and anything (of either sex) is fair game. I certainly wouldn't have altered my diet either way based on the two images, and I'd hope most people would recognize what would be a satirical meme or even a mean spirited troll like meme, not so much an essay on the apparent foolishness of a healthy diet.

Also would these articles be written if they compared jackie wright and brad pitt as the epitiome of male gorgeousness? Jackie would probably be the first to laugh his ass off.

Lawson still looks mighty fab though and I like her even more now that she's put on a few...as does her husband.

Give me a steak! 'If' Aliens are harvesting humans and putting them in Vats, let them have a 'slurpiee' too. Yes, I'm an ignorant f**K, steakeach day still please.

Geeze guys, don't take this too seriously. It was meant to be a stab at humor. Before I recd. this today I had never heard of either of them.

People sure need to try to lighten up.

Acknowledged, which was my whole point, your "in a lighter vein" did not go unnoticed and whomever started this meme (?) probably did so for a laugh not because they intended to make any point about diet. The authors of the two articles seemed very offended though. I wonder if they ever dismissed something that I felt strongly about. if they did it in a humorous way I would have laughed you can bet, you may not have noticed but I highly value a good sense of humor even if it is at the expense of something I hold dear. But we all have different thresholds. There has been a few edgy things posted in official funny stuff that could be construed as making fun of shall we say people less sophisticated than us paracast members and some articles chris had posted regarding the darwin awards involved death or injuries, things certainly worse off than commenting on the looks of a couple of women that don't need my sympathy.(And for the record I laughed and "liked" them) a guilty laugh but a laugh nonetheless. I know you wouldn't have posted it if the meme was referencing a starving african child nor would I have laughed, but perhaps someone would have. It's one of those things that make us different.

I find that people that follow a certain diet, be it vegan, vegetarian, palio, atkins, etc are really irritating. My philosophy, don't eat too much high calorie garbage and exercise. You'll usually look good and feel fine. Smoking is pretty bad for you too. I love it when I meat smokers that are all into a certain diet or diet product pyramid scheme and start telling me about it. My answer: How's about you stop smoking?

We are a fascinating species aren't we !?

We've had these two on TV here for ages. Here's the thing about McKeith - she loves to bandy about the title 'Dr' but she has been exposed as having 'gained' that 'PhD' from some kind of mail-order or online-type deal.
She is no medical doctor but she kind of tries to make on she is. I don't think she outright lies but she doesn't offer the full truth.
Her main thing is going into the homes of the fat, piling a week's worth of their own food on the kitchen table (which admittedly is always a shock) and then proceeds to ask the people to take a dump in a polythene box, which she then proceeds to visually 'analyse.'

I cannot stand her. I don't mind her healthy eating message but her credentials and her selling health food stuff annoy me. I really don't know why anyone ever put her on TV.

Nigella, daughter of a former Chancellor of the Exchequer (UK financial minister) who served under Margaret Thatcher. She looks great and makes great food. Cool huh?

She sounds like a few "Doctors" in the paranormal world.

After careful analysis and intensive digital forensics I have determined this woman is actually an alien. I would appreciate any input on my findings.

I don't mind so much if they keep it to themselves but if they feel like they have to share it with everyone...in my eyes at least...they come off as annoying one of those pesky jehovah's witnesses.

And if they feel they have come across a magic bullet that could really benefit a person and decide to sell that info instead of sharing it freely a little poking isn't going to hurt them. otherwise we should be paying royalties to the millions of mediterraneans for their diet, which isn't really a diet per say they just eat what they got, I don't think they put a lot of thought into it.

Vegans and vegetarians never tell you that their diets can lead to serious deficiencies of things like Omega 3 fatty acids, Vitamin B-12 and Vitamin D (if they don't get enough sunlight) so they often end up having to take vitamins or supplements to compensate. Obviously, eating a ton of red meat is terrible for you, but I can't see how it makes sense to go completely the other way, a nice balance between the two is better than either of the extremes, at least in my opinion. I'm with Angelo when it comes to finding them to be incredibly annoying when they try to tell you how you should be eating...

as a brit. this is all 100% true no fake. see the eyes.

mckeith is a fake and a fraud as well with fabricated qualifications.
