I could never really get into dream theatre, Petrucci and Portnoy are truly brilliant players, but the music is just a little too polished for me.

Barlow is back in Iced Earth again, though the last album was a little weak, actually, the two they made with Ripper Owens were incredible, the glorious burder featured a 3 song 30 minute long tribute to the battle of Gettysburg featuring the Prague philharmonic orchestra. Simply brilliant.

Blind Guardian is one of the greatest bands of all time. How someone so German can sound so Brittish is beyond me.

Have you heard of Demons and Wizards? It's Schaffer from Iced Earth with the Hansi of Blind Guardian. Such a good band, their first album "fiddler on the Green" was beautiful, very accessible as well. Their second album "Touched by the Crimson King" is a concept album revolving around Stephen King's Dark Tower series, which is epic as fuck.

I've been pushing a christian metal band since December. They're called Theocracy and they are one of the greatest bands I've heard in the last few years.
