Hangar 1: The UFO Files

Has anyone else been watching this new series? It's laughably bad. It's almost as bad as Animal Planet's "Uncovering Aliens" which, in my opinion, might be IS the worst UFO-related "reality" series of all-time. With Hangar 1, it seems like MUFON decided to simply cash in using some of the more sensational (and dubious) stories to make some of that fat TV money.

What's surprising about Hangar 1 is that Richard Dolan is involved. I think his credibility takes a bit of a ding participating in this farcical nonsense.

The recent Open Minds interview with MUFON's director would seem to confirm they ditched accuracy for sensationalism. He admits that a number of compromises had to be made to get the show on television.

Most of the "cases" they have discussed so far are just UFO campfire stories of the lowest order. I believe they've only covered one alleged UFO sighting in the first two episodes, that of Jimmy Carter.

They should remove the false tagline about this material being from MUFON case files, have the show hosted by an alien Crypt Keeper and call the show:
TALES FROM HANGAR 1.

Largely an infomercial for MUFON. It's not the worst documentary out there in terms of treatment of the phenomenon. Except for the glaring fact that MUFON is in no way the sole repository of the info presented. And 'Hanger 1' ? What utter hoke.

How do you feel about this spot? It seems to have been produced by the Texas chapter of MUFON, with he approval of Steve Hudgeons Jr, who is the national "Director of Investigations."
Aliens and their technology are presented as a fact not a question. The key issues of concern seem to be Disclosure, Free Energy and forming a lobby to petition the US government on these issues.

The thing is, with the right people involved, there's plenty of sensationalism and accuracy to be had. It just takes the right cases and the right people to handle the job including some decent actors, period costumes, and lifelike special effects.

A bit Stephen Greerish? The the best of my knowledge, neither Oppenheimer or Teller ever "testified" publicly in regards to UFOs. Membership drives are a permissible part of the game. But the ad hints at more than MUFON is likely to deliver, IMO.

Next on Hangar 1, looks like they go to Lazar and Corso!

  • "Alien Technology
    Premiere Date:March 14, 2014 - 10:00-11:00PM ET
Could the greatest inventions of the twentieth century and beyond potentially be the products of reverse engineered alien technology? Inside Hangar 1, MUFON files trace mankind's technological boom to materials reportedly recovered from UFO crashes in the 1940s. MUFON investigates allegations of alien engineering, from the birth of the transistor in the 1950s, to military UFOs in the Middle East. Is our modern world built on a foundation of borrowed–or stolen–technology?"

What's even stranger about this is that Stanton Friedman is a monthly columnists for the MUFON Journal, and he's the chief debunker of both Bob Lazar and Philip Corso.

It is hard to believe that MUFON has become a double-feature with "Ancient Aliens."

In other MUFON news, Hangar 1 star John Ventre is looking to UFOs to explain the Malaysian airline tragedy:
"The one explanation that some researchers are considering is that the plane and its passengers were abducted by extraterrestrials."

I am baffled by Richard Dolan lately. He appears at Bassett's Disclosure gathering in DC along with Moulton-Howe and now on this Hangar 1 program. He doesn't seem to know or care that his integrity takes a hit when he shows up with these people. Maybe the almighty dollar has a bigger sway in his thinking these days.

Dis-Infotainment
I dislike the term "disinformation," because it is so misused. It is supposed to mean false information mixed with truth in order to deceive the intended target. What we are generally subjected to is just misinformation, lies, rumor and distortion.

Since Hangar 1 knowingly presents false information for commercial purposes, I'm at a loss on how to describe it, but your term is growing on me:
Dis-Infotainment.
