My first time I was in sydney (late 80's) I was...due to the time difference physically and biologically speaking...up at 2 a.m. famished and looking to get a bite to eat, I walked down to kings cross foolishly thinking I would find a place to eat. I was aware of it's reputation, although the lonely planet guide didn't do it justice, and therefore assumed that, being a happening place, eating places would be chock a block. I was directed to a McDonalds that was open that almost resembled an emergency ward at a hospital or a clinic. A very helpful lady of the evening...in this case, very early morning, pointed me in the right direction after asking me "do you want a gurl ?" at least i think that's how it was pronounced.
 
I'm happy that the sequestration had no impact on the white house easter egg roll as it is privately funded with donations and sales. To me it's one of those signs that spring has arrived and the kids seem to enjoy it. :-)
