Paranormal Novice
I have only had one experience with a "UFO". This is very crazy to me still to this day and I have yet to hear anyone with a similar experience. The company I work for does quite a bit of outdoor work on pipelines around the county and overseas. This particular trip had taken us from Michigan to Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, then over to Maryland, then back through Pennsylvania, and back to Michigan. The first leg of the trip was business as usual including Wright-Patterson although I did feel pretty special being escorted around the base. We had to do some general corrosion control work on petroleum lines that run under a railroad track that happens to run through the base property. Then on the way back, up the 80-90 turnpike somewhere just east of Toledo, we saw what started out as what looked like a roman candle being shot from the right side of the treeline, over the turnpike. It looked pretty normal at first, but caught all of our eyes. I was sitting in the passenger seat while a co-worker was driving. We were also following another co-worker who was driving a tanker truck. I also want to inform you that no drugs were involved as we were often drug-tested by the DOT. As we were watching a solo ball of sparks arc upward toward the sky, crossing the highway it split into three separate balls of sparks in which two of the three faded out and the one remaining split into another three balls of sparks. After the third or fourth time of this happening, we started to feel a bit uneasy as to what we were seeing. None of us had ever seen a firework do the sort of things that this was doing. A few moments later, the driver of the car I was in shouted "Holy shit, look!". I turned my head toward him to see where he was looking, and out of the drivers side window I could see three bright balls of light which to me resembled the lights from a baseball stadium, hovering above the tree line about three hundred yards away for about 5 seconds. Then shot straight up into the sky leaving tracers in my eyes when I closed them for about 10 seconds afterwards. This really freaked us out at the time, but also made me realize that wether it's man made or Extra-Terrestrial, there are a lot of things we don't know about.

I get the feeling that the balls of sparks over the highway was a diversion, but what shot the balls of sparks from the opposite side of the highway?

Has anyone else seen anything like this as far as UFO's go before?

I've not seen the sparkling objects, but I have seen a glowing orb. A glowing ball of light doesn't sound all that spectacular, but there were quite a few aspects to the sighting that enabled me to determine with reasonable certainty that what I was watching was a UFO ( alien craft ) and not anything natural or manmade. The one I saw was observed more than once over the course of an evening and into the early morning. It was bluish white but not glaring. When it departed it left a streak of light behind it. It happened back in 1975 near Lake Windermere British Columbia ( Canada ).

Very nice introductory post. But I am a little confused on the description of the lights. When you say the three lights reminded you of a baseball stadium, did you mean the three lights combined reminded you of a stadium or each individual light reminded you of a stadium. In what way, were they ring shaped, semi circular, did the3 lights look like they belonged to a bank of lights ? i.e. several lights in a row making up a set ?

how large were the balls? what was the total distance covered by the splitting balls?

Mulder, I am guessing but I think he meant that the balls of light reminded him of the very-bright bulbs used in the floodlights at a baseball/football/soccer stadium. If you have ever been to such a stadium at night you will be familiar with just how bright those floodlights are. I think he was saying they were the same size and brightness as the individual bulbs that make up these floodlights.

If you have ever driven past a baseball game at an MLB park right before dusk, when the lights are turned on, and the park is lit up, you can see the stadium lights shine down from above the top f the stadium. The lights are very bright, and are usually in threes or fours. The lights that we had seen that night were circular, and close together.

The balls of sparks resembled a roman candle firing off. Only one ball shot from out of the treeline and began to split into three. It's hard to give actual measurement, but I would say that if I were to hold one of the balls of sparks in my hands, it had to be as big as a beach ball. It stopped splitting about 3/4 of the way across the highway. I would say the total distance was at least a 100 yards, maybe 150.
