I know in light of recent developments with David leaving this may be at the bottom of the list, but....

1. Have you guys received the apparent second mailing of Dolan's book yet??
2. Have you asked him to come back on the show??

I know you are down a host right now, but if you are to perhaps acquire Schuyler as a guest host, this would be a great show to have him on. And not for the "big showdown" or anything like that, but just some reasonable rational discussion with him. This is what is appealing about the show and I'm hopeful it will remain this way. Thanks.

Yes, we got the book. But Dolan declined to come on the show, at least for now.
 
Because he knows it will be tough and can only hurt his reputation/earning potential. Did anyone actually expect him to man up and face it? I certainly did not!
 
I did, to be honest. I'm surprised he declined the offer to return to the show.

Are you leaving out any information Gene? Maybe Dolan said he's too busy, or he's waiting until you read the book. Or whatever. Just curious if it was a flat out turn down of an offer to come on the Paracast?

Here's what he wrote a few weeks back: "Guys, really sorry but I don't think this is a good idea for me at this time."

Make of that what you will.
 
Well that's really too bad. It wouldn't be bad for his reputation I don't think. But who would willingly go into an ambush?? I'm sure in light of things that is what he is thinking would happen. I really thought he would come back on to clear the air, but I'm guessing he doesn't think the Paracast would be too friendly to him. And that's a shame.
 
Indeed this is a shame. One of the brightest ' stars' in Ufology today, and he's shirking away from appearing. I have both volumes of his book and although , not perfect, I absolutely love them. I hope Project Camelot didn't get to him....
 
I'm not surprised given the treatment he received in the forum. Why run the risk of two hours worth of confrontation? And, there was some tension before with the whole "first copy" of the book thing. I'd like to hear him again, but I'm not holding my breath.
 
It's strange. He's willing to appear with people who have less than stellar reputations ( which must have seemed like a good IDEA at the time! ) and cop any shit that might stick to him because of it, yet he won't appear on the Paracast because....."I don't think this is a good idea for me at this time."

If he doesn't like confrontation why align himself or appear at conferences that are run by people with damaged reputations and who have other speakers with equally damaged reputations.This is what annoys me about Dolan.How he could he possibly think that he could escape any criticism.

I could not agree more! The thing is that he doesn't shy away from confrontations that he knows he can control. At the MUFON conference in Denver a few years ago he was very confrontational, on stage, during the Q&A session with the other speakers. But, he knew he could control it because it was a pointed Q&A with a short time limit. The Paracast talk would center around his book and the controversy. He would have to defend himself and his associations instead of everyone always praising him.

I don't hate the guy, I think he has generally been a positive persona in the field. But, his free pass is over. There was a time when I thought Greer was good for the field. I will stop short of comparing Dolan to Greer but you get my point. If he wants to earn our respect then he needs to admit his faults, and then spend a bit of time fixing them. Otherwise, he deserves to loose the respect he has gained in the past several years. Just like Greer, LMH, and many others that once were beacons and are now jokes.

To be honest, just coming on the show and defending his POV would earn him a measure of respect in my eyes, and I am betting in many of his critics as well.

Just my opinion.

"Money makes the world go round", and who can blame him if it is just that, which I don't believe, otherwise he would have chosen some other field. ;) But..and a big BUT here...if you are signing on to some congress where Stan Romanek gives a presentation/lecture ( :} )...
 
I have thought LONG AND HARD about posting what I am about to. I decided to, when I read an above-Poster's noticing that Richard Dolan is aggressive over those who do not or cannot be moreso, over him. ("He does not shy away from confrontations he cannot control." [ RonCollins] ) Unlike The formidable and dreaded Paracast.
It's a somewhat lengthy sad tale that occurred back in the late summer of 2005.
I have decided to try as much as I can, to condense this. Dolan and I were communicating via snailmail and telephone at that time, as a result of me sending him my dossier I had painstakingly compiled, of my own Ufo-gov-coverup documentation. (See Don Eckers www.darkmattersradio.com 'Week 5' ). The tone Dolan used with me, at times, was imbued----with this demanding entitlement. He was ungreatfull. Didn't even pretend. It was --intimidating-- . I felt like I had done something bad, and it took me back to when federal agents were interrogating me. In that time of 2005, I was estranged from my family, and living all alone, on disability, for disabling fears, traumas, and sensory levels. Dolan was like a demi-god to me, and I wanted his approval. My Agent Fox Mulder HERO! But I recieved instead, what I described above. I felt humiliated, and I wanted Richard to feel humiliated too, so I made some mischief against him, but it was 'Mostly Harmless'. He reacted VERY angrily. I felt bad, I cried, and I scraped and grovelled and scraped and grovelled, putting it and putting it, back on ME. So as not to lose his approval, cuz my self-esteem was non-existent, at that time.

I have self esteem now, and LOTS of it. I will NEVER seek anyones approval --like that-- again, as long as I live. I have MY OWN approval. Even though it is all I need, I have a sweet cherry on my icing, which is Don Ecker's approval as well. And Richard, he is much COOLER and REAL than you.
