Heat destroy Lakers

A lot of doubters were saying the Lakers are too big inside to be beaten by the Heat but not only were they bested, they were steamrolled...and on their home floor. :) I've watched nearly every Heat game this year and this was easily the most satisfying.

Since I'm from Ohio some might find it strange that I don't hate Lebron James for leaving Cleveland and may accuse me of being a frontrunner. For the record I have been a Pat Riley fan since I was a kid. When he was with the Lakers I liked the Lakers, when he was with the Knicks I liked the Knicks, now the same with the Heat. When the Heat were playing the Mavs for the championship in 2006 I was watching every game and rooting for the Heat. Dwyane Wade utterly amazed me in that series and I've been a big fan of him in particular ever since. So when "The Decision" happened I was nonplussed. It was a win-win scenario as far as I was concerned. If he stayed in Cleveland: cool. If he went to Miami: also cool. But any other team would have annoyed me.

Couple of thoughts about the Heat:

I'm really getting tired of hearing all the time that James is better than Wade. It's become routine for journalists to claim that Wade is playing second fiddle to him, that somehow he is inferior. That is a load of horseshit. Those guys are equal. At times Wade is the better player, at other times it is Lebron. One thing James does have over him is sheer physical presence. It's freakish for a man 6' 8" tall and 250 pounds to be able to move like that. But Wade is every bit as talented and imo his basketball IQ is higher and he is more clutch. So when these commentators say that Wade is the second best player on his team I roll my eyes and think "Bah!"

What's with the forward position obsession in Miami? Seriously, this team is absurdly deep at that position. Lebron James, Chris Bosh, Mike Miller, Udonis Haslem, etc. It's more than they need. Ya' shouldn't get rid of Haslem because he's a staple in Miami but why not trade Miller for a quality center? And I don't say that just because Miller has been sitting on the bench all season. Once he gets his legs I'm sure he'll be very good. But it just isn't necessary. Nobody needs so many quality forwards on one team. But the Heat sure as hell could use a better center than what they've currently got.

Btw, Merry Christmas :)
