Paranormal Novice
I've been listening to the show for over a year now, but I'm new to the forum. My interests are many; UFOs, Crypt-ids, Ghosts, Demons and all of the paranormal. I love all the paranormal "reality" shows and podcasts. I find it all very interesting and entertaining, and here's the catch. I doubt that any of the is phenomena is real*, and there is very little or even no proof of any of it. Yes folks, PURE skeptic here and I have never had what you would call a paranormal experience. As a matter of fact I WISH it all did exist, it would make the world a lot more interesting. But here's the simple truth of the matter, none of it does and unless you can show or lead me to the scientific evidence, it's all a no-go. Now certain things I'm just going to have to see for myself, a ghost for example (but see below!). I do find evp's fascinating, but I'm not willing to make the leap that those are proof of ghosts or are even paranormal. I don't think there is proof of a god or an afterlife (6.5 on the Dawkin's scale of belief), so I don't know what a ghost would or could be. As far as the Crypt-ids are concerned, it would be too cool to go to Scotland or to Lake Champlain and watch a prehistoric-related monster flop around in a lake! I just don't think it's going to happen and there is no proof that either exist, (not counting fuzzy photos or shaky videos). UFOs are probably my favorite subject. But no, I don't think we've been visited by aliens in spaceships. Could it happen? Sure. Is there other life in the universe? There almost has to be considering it's size. Although there are quite a few interesting and unsolved UFO cases, I just need to see more, yes, scientific proof! I'm happy to know though that the paracast forum welcomes skeptics, or at least tolerates us. Hello to all!
*I use the term "real" here meaning what most people expect a phenomena to be;i.e., Bigfoot is a big hairy creature that lives in the woods. I actually believe that perception, environment and psychology (state-of-mind) have a lot to do with the paranormal and that a person may actually believe they see or perceive a ghost. But, if I was standing next to that person, I would not see or perceive the same thing. Btw, I would love to perceive a ghost!
