How Brilliant Computer Scientists Solved the Bermuda Triangle Mystery

Not so sure this is a new discovery because I recall hearing this same explanation on a documentary quite some time ago. But I don't know, maybe the doc was just speculating and these guys found the proof.
 
There have been a couple of different documentaries that have shown how methane could sink boats / ships and cause piston aircraft engines to fail. I think they were speculative as to whether or not there were large areas of methane in the triangle areas.
I think this could account for some of the disappearances, but there are others that still are hard to explain.
 
And how would bubbles of methane affect compasses. Thats one of the weird things about certain Bermuda Triangle stories ... the way the compass goes berserk. I can't see how methane could affect something like that. Any ideas folks??
