I saw a Ufo yesterday.

When I put 'Ufo' I truly mean something flying, that I could not identify.
I was thinking about entitling this post, 'What did I see?' As well.
This object was ---bizarre--- and I had been wondering if I should post about it. I decided to, because I would like to know what others have to input about it. Like, was it a surveillance drone? A remote-controlled toy? An anomalous whatzit? I was sitting outside in my car, ready to come in to the Library. But a soaring 'Bald Eagle', caught my eye. Yeah, it looked ---just like--- a soaring bald eagle. It was going around and round in circular patterns, high up in the sunny blue, very slightly cloudy sky. Coming from East, circulating West, then, it was directly over me. I laid down on my car seat, looking strait up, out the windshield. I could see then, that this object was artificial, and not a living bird. I wish I could put a drawing here, to show you. It was ---not--- an ultralight aircraft, or a kite, I know that. I quickly jumped out of my car to get a better look, --- and it was nowhere. Gone. There were no clouds enough to hide it.

Did you hear any engine noise?

I heard no engine noise, but my environment was noisy with traffic and shoppers next'door'. When it was directly over me, it seemed closer, so I could see details about it. The wings looked like an 'airplane's, though. Just long-out and then completely rounded. This device's body was dark brown. Then it had a rounded cone head like an aircraft nose cone, which was white. Then it had a tail that did not look like an airplanes, but rather, fanned-out like a bird's. I thought I might have saw that it was in separate parts though, probably for turning moves. But it was all white. I'll have to spend some time on the internet away from chat forums, researching unmanned drones, because it would majorly creep me out, if it was one of those!

Take a look at this image. It's of a drone that could be painted to look like a bird. The is the NextGen Aeronautics MFX-2 swing-wing UAV. Not saying what you saw was this, but it does give you an idea of what could be flying around.

Do you live near any airbases or aerospace companies?

Thank you so much for that productive contribution. Sometimes, when I'm actually trying to report about something serious and interesting, someone will post a nonrelevent sentance, that makes no sense to me. (Referring to some completely other thread). ('Tis dissapointing). So I therefore appreciate this UAV picture that you took the time to find and post. It somewhat resembles what I saw. If you painted it's body a blackish brown, and the nose white, and the tail white, well, only the wings on the one I saw, seemed a bit more round on the ends. Geez, thats why I said I'd be creeped out, cuz the CIA uses those things to either kill, or surveill, or both? I live only mere blocks away from a military facility that is not a regular base. There's this building, it also has a Veterans Administration office where you can get help about paperwork and benefits etcetera, and then also is home to some US Army (Guard or Reserves) unit. But am not near an Air Force base. I don't know about aerospace companies, that is a good research idea. The town I'm in, I've only been here since July '07.

You're most welcome.
Your description reminded me of an aircraft in a book I read years back. The aircraft in the story could camouflage itself so it matched it's background. One pattern it used was called (if I remember correctly) "buzzard", meaning it would put an image of a buzzard on it so it looked like a bird to those who caught a glance of it. In the years since this book came out, this kind of technology has been profiled more than once in the media as something that is actually being researched. So, I think it is plausible that smaller drones could be painted to look like birds or be using a technology that changed it's skin color pattern to look like a bird.

Thats extremely interesting and spook-y. Because the object I saw, seemed to vamoos very quickly. Vanish, even. So in regards to changing skin patterns---I wonder if these things could bear some kind of invisibility paint as well? I know we have that capability, cuz I saw it demonstrated on one of those amazing science type of cable TV shows. Even though it was being shown as a not finished and perfected deal but rather, being experimented in a lab. ( I think---it was Japan).

Hoffmeister, that -predator- drone LOOKS as menacing, as dangerous as it really is. I get the same willies looking at it, as I do from a wasp or hornet.
